Give your shoulders—and your upper body—a movement break!

These 3 seated resistance-band moves combine shoulder mobility, upper-body control, and upper-back strength. A great option for adults 40+ and beginners looking to move more confidently.

• Bent-arm band passes: Gently pull the band outward as you move it behind your head and return. Keep your elbows bent and your range comfortable.

• Longer-arm band passes: Progress toward straighter arms with a slight elbow bend—but only if the first version feels comfortable and controlled. Move one is your doorway to move two, and you can stay with the first version as long as you need.

• Seated band pull-aparts: With your arms extended in front of your chest, pull the band apart with control to work the muscles across your upper back.

Start with 1–2 sets of 5–8 controlled reps per move using a light band. Sit tall in a sturdy chair, keep breathing, and avoid arching your back or forcing your shoulders through the movement. Skip any variation that causes pain.

Progress comes from control and consistency—not forcing a bigger range.

Get your heart pumping while putting your legs to work!

This chair-supported cardio routine uses an ankle resistance band and two small hopping movements:

• Forward-and-back foot shuffles: Alternate your feet forward and backward to challenge your thighs, coordination, and stamina.
• In-and-out hops: Move your feet apart and together against the band to work your outer hips while keeping the cardio going.

For beginners ready to add a little impact, keep the hops small and controlled. Prefer a gentler option? Keep one foot grounded and step through both movements instead.

Start with 15–20 seconds per move for 1 round. Rest as needed, then build toward 2 rounds.

Place a sturdy chair against the wall, check that it won’t tip or slide, and hold the back for support. Keep the band tension light enough to control your feet.

You don’t have to go fast to make progress. Start at your level and build confidence one movement at a time!

Build upper-body strength while giving your glutes and core a job, too! đź’™

This beginner-focused floor routine combines two chest exercises with a glute bridge:

• Chest press: Press the weights upward to work your chest, shoulders, and triceps.
• Chest fly: With a slight bend in your elbows, slowly open your arms, then bring the weights back together to work your chest.

Holding the bridge keeps your glutes engaged while your core helps steady your body. For adults 40+ and beginners, this is a way to practice strength and control using light weights.

Start with 1–2 sets of 8–10 reps per move. Rest 30–60 seconds between sets.

Keep your hips steady, ribs relaxed, and avoid arching your lower back. Use lighter weights for the fly and keep the range comfortable. If holding the bridge feels too challenging, lower your hips to the mat and focus on the chest exercises first.

Build confidence one controlled rep at a time! Explore more beginner-friendly strength programs through the link in my bio.

Stiff back? Give your body a chance to move more freely. đź’™

This full-body mobility flow has several benefits, with a special focus on helping your back feel less stiff and move with more control.

It combines flexibility, core engagement, and coordination. Practiced consistently within a comfortable range, it may help ease back stiffness and, for some people, reduce discomfort over time. Results depend on what’s causing the pain—more repetitions or a deeper stretch aren’t always better.

For adults 40+ looking to move more comfortably throughout the day, start with 1 set of 5–10 slow, controlled reps. Build toward 2 sets as you feel comfortable.

Keep breathing, avoid forcing the movement, and stop if it increases pain.

You don’t have to start with an intense workout. Start with one simple move! 💙

This 3-move chair-supported cardio routine is designed for beginners and people with limited mobility who want to build a more active lifestyle. On the final move, I use a stick alongside the chair for extra balance support.

These movements can help get your heart rate up, build stamina, and practice coordination—all at your own pace. For adults 40+ and seniors, small steps can build confidence for everyday movement.

Start with 15–30 seconds per move, rest as needed, and try 1 round. Build toward 2 rounds as you feel ready.

Use a sturdy chair that won’t slide, or place chair against the wall keep your support secure, and work within a comfortable, pain-free range.

Your starting point is yours. You can begin working toward your body goals one simple move at a time.

Knee mobility meets strength and control with this Bear Plank Knee Extension move.

Starting on your hands and toes with your knees hovering above the mat, gently shift back and straighten your legs, then bend your knees to return to that low hover.

This movement works your knees through bending and straightening while challenging your thighs, core, and upper body—helping build control for everyday movement.

For adults 40+ ready to progress their floor exercises, try 1–2 sets of 5–8 slow reps. Rest 30–60 seconds between sets.

Use a comfortable range, avoid forcing your knees straight, and keep breathing. Try this when you’re comfortable supporting yourself on your hands and toes.

A stronger core helps support the movements you use every day—from getting out of a chair to walking, bending, and reaching with more control.

These two beginner-friendly moves train your core to keep your body steady while your arms and legs move:

Alternating toe taps: Lying on your back with your knees lifted and arms out to the sides, gently lower one foot to tap the floor, then bring it back up. Alternate sides while keeping your pelvis steady.

Bird dog with elbow-to-knee: From your hands and knees, gently bring your elbow toward your opposite knee, then extend that arm and leg. This challenges core control, coordination, and stability.

For adults 40+, beginners, and anyone working toward more confident movement, start small and focus on control.

Start with 1–2 sets:
• Toe taps: 6–8 reps per side.
• Bird dog: 4–6 reps per side.
• Rest 30–60 seconds between sets.

Keep breathing throughout. For toe taps, shorten the lowering distance if your lower back starts arching. For bird dog, reach only as far as you can without twisting or losing balance—your elbow and knee don’t have to touch.

Seated Abs, Part 2: three new moves you can do from a chair.

If getting down on the floor isn’t comfortable for you, you can still practice controlled movement and work your core while seated. Take these slowly, sit tall, and move through a range that feels good for your body.

Missed the first three moves? Go back and check out Part 1, then save both videos for a beginner-friendly seated core routine.

Want more ways to build strength at your own pace? My programs are linked in my bio.

Two chair-supported moves for your glutes, hamstrings, balance, and hip mobility.

For the first move, I lean forward while holding the chair, extend one leg behind me, then bend that leg and bring my knee forward. I move back and forth slowly, keeping the motion controlled.

For the second, I hold the chair and extend a straight leg behind me. After each rep, I briefly lift my hands from the chair before holding on again for the next rep. That little pause adds a balance challenge—but keep your hands on the chair if you need the support.

These are great moves to practice if you want to feel stronger and steadier in everyday life. Start with a small, comfortable range and use a sturdy chair that won’t slide.

Save this one to try later, and find more beginner-friendly strength and mobility workouts through the link in my bio.
