True leadership isn't just about surviving trauma; it's about leveraging that Adversity to build elite organizational cultures and drive strategic growth.

I recently joined Benjamin Nevares on episode #84 of the Ben Thinking podcast to discuss the intersection of trauma, leadership, and professional growth.

We bypassed the surface-level advice and got straight to the tactical realities of transitioning from combat to the boardroom and scaling as a veteran entrepreneur.

In this conversation, we talked about:
✔ How unprocessed trauma impacts mental health.
✔ The unique transition challenges veterans face.
✔ Why traditional education is evolving.
✔ And actionable insights for creating a vibrant workplace culture.

A massive thank you to Benjamin for providing the platform for this high-stakes, authentic conversation.

🎤 Adversity Leadership®: Lead with Precision When It Matters Most

Looking forward to joining 400+ United Way leaders, professionals, and volunteers from across the Northeast as we explore how leaders can strengthen people, teams, and communities through pressure...not despite it.

Because communities do not rise because pressure disappears.

Communities rise because leaders do.

Pressure does not create leadership.
Pressure reveals it.

Honored to serve as the closing keynote speaker for the United Way Northeast Regional Conference on 6/3/26, presenting:

Adversity Leadership®
Lead with Precision When It Matters Most

In today’s environment, leaders are navigating:

Uncertainty
Emotional fatigue
Staffing pressure
Complexity
Increasing community needs
Constant decision-making under pressure

This keynote is not about motivation.

It’s about helping leaders:
SEE clearly.
MOVE courageously.
And strengthen CULTURE together under pressure.

I’m excited to serve an incredible network of leaders committed to strengthening communities across the Northeast region.

Because communities do not rise because pressure disappears.

Communities rise because leaders do.

A lot of people want growth, but very few people want the discomfort attached to growth.

Growth requires adjustment. Accountability. Reflection. Change. Sometimes it requires letting go of habits, environments, or mindsets that once felt comfortable but no longer support who you are becoming.

That process is uncomfortable.

I think that is why many people stay stuck longer than they need to. Not because they lack potential, but because comfort can become convincing.

Real growth usually asks something from you.

More discipline. More honesty. More patience. More emotional maturity. More consistency.

The people who continue growing over time are usually the ones willing to stay committed even when the process stops feeling exciting and starts requiring deeper work internally.

Sometimes it’s the unexpected things that hit the hardest.

While recovering from a major surgery, I received an incredible care package from my brother Ryan Bruzek, Founder & CEO of Bruzek Knives. Ryan and I go way back… serving together in the Marines and both being fellow Amtrackers. Brotherhood like that never fades.

Inside the package was one of his handcrafted knives, absolutely unreal craftsmanship from a veteran-owned and operated small business that takes pride in doing things the right way. If you know Ryan, you know this wasn’t just a gift… it was a reminder of brotherhood, resilience, and staying sharp no matter what life throws at you.

And because Marines will always be Marines… tucked in the other cases were Charms candy and crayons 😂. If you know, you know.

Brother, thank you for the support, the laughs, and the reminder that our tribe is always there for each other. I appreciate you more than words can say.

YATYAS forever.

I think one of the biggest misconceptions about confidence is that people assume it comes first.

It usually does not.

Most confidence is built through repetition, discomfort, failure, adjustment, and experience. It develops after you have put yourself in enough difficult situations to realize you can survive them.

Before I ever felt comfortable speaking on stages, leading under pressure, or stepping into unfamiliar environments, there were moments of doubt. Moments where it would have been easier to stay quiet or avoid the pressure altogether.

But avoiding discomfort delays growth.

Over time, you learn something important: confidence is not about eliminating fear. It is about developing the ability to move forward while fear is still present.

That is a very different mindset.

A lot of people are waiting to feel ready before they act. Most growth happens when you decide to move before you feel completely prepared.

Over the weekend, my wife Courtney Allison and I had the honor of supporting our friend, Pastor Lisa Williams, as she wrapped up an incredible celebration at the ROAR Women’s 2026 Conference. We experienced it firsthand, and what a powerful and impactful weekend it was.

The theme centered around being still and allowing God to work, a message that deeply resonated in a world constantly pushing us to move faster, do more, and carry more. It was a timely reminder that sometimes the greatest strength comes from surrender, stillness, and trusting God’s process.

Pastor Lisa Williams is truly a visionary leader, pastor, and founder of the ROAR Conference. With more than 20 years in ministry and the beauty industry, she carries a voice filled with wisdom, healing, grace, and quiet authority. Alongside her husband, Pastor Rich Williams, as co-founders of Redemption Empowerment Deliverance Church, their passion is clear: to see women anchored in faith, confident in identity, and boldly walking in their God-given purpose.

And they wasted no time preparing for the next move…

ROAR Women’s Conference 2027 is already open for registration!

If this year was any indication of what God is doing through this movement, you do not want to miss next year.
