The 96 survived the autocross, but not without some drama. The course was pretty tight, never got out of 2nd gear. The exhaust came apart at the finish of my second run. I knew it could be a problem because the clamp was a bit loose and couldn't be tightened any further. It was easier to remove it than fix it. We weren't competitive, though we didn't finish last.

Taking to the track again today. I've spent much of this week making small changes to the SAAB 96 to have it ready. Black River Motorsports Park South of Superior WI is having an autocross today, so short runs but that's really all I need to get a feel for the suspension and brakes.

Sunday Spotlight: Put-in-Bay Road Races Reunion 🏁

The roar of vintage engines, the smell of race fuel, and a piece of Put-in-Bay history all come together at the annual Put-in-Bay Road Races Reunion!

Originally held from 1952–1959 and again in 1963, these iconic races helped put the island on the map for sports car enthusiasts. Today, the tradition lives on as beautifully restored MGs, Porsches, Triumphs, Corvettes, and other classic race cars return to celebrate the golden age of motorsports.

The 2026 Road Races Reunion takes place September 15–17 at the Put-in-Bay Airport, with free admission for spectators. Come admire the cars up close, watch vintage racing in action, and experience one of the island’s most unique traditions.
