THIS ONE HITS DIFFERENT!!! 🏆
LEGENDS ACES 9U ARE STATE CHAMPIONS!!!
If I had to describe this team in one word, it would be GRITTY.
These boys are a HARD out. They battle, they compete, and they absolutely refuse to quit. It doesn't matter what the scoreboard says. You better be ready to play until the final out because these boys aren't going anywhere.
A lot of that starts with the competitive nature of their Head Coach, Jack James. If you've spent five minutes talking baseball with Jack, you know how much he cares about this game and, more importantly, these kids. He is as competitive as they come, and these boys are starting to take on that personality. They don't back down from anybody.
But I want to tell you a little about how this team came together because I think that's what makes this one so special.
A few months ago, I don't know that many people expected a whole lot out of this group in year one. They were a new team, trying to figure things out, with a lot of unknowns.
But dang, they looked down and realized they had ACES!!!
And now here we are. STATE CHAMPIONS!
The story of this team really starts with a couple of guys, Adam Swilley and Charlie Tull.
These two saw a need for a group of kids and decided to do something about it. No big speeches. No worrying about who got the credit. They just put their heads down and went to work.
Whether it was fundraising, sending countless messages, coordinating everything behind the scenes, recruiting players, or finding the right head coach to lead this group, they did whatever needed to be done.
And I can tell you, putting together a team and keeping everything moving is a WHOLE lot more work than most people realize.
They weren't looking for recognition. They were looking for an opportunity for these kids.
And MAN, look what that opportunity has turned into.
But here's something else I want to make sure doesn't get lost in all of this.
IT TOOK EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM TO GET THIS DONE.
Every coach who poured time into these boys. Every parent who made sacrifices, got them to practices, showed up on weekends, and believed in what this group was building. Every person behind the scenes who helped make it possible.
And most importantly, every single kid on that roster.
Every one of those boys has a role in this team's success. Some might get more hits, some might make the big defensive play, and some might have their biggest impact by picking up a teammate when things aren't going their way. But make no mistake, there isn't one kid on that team who didn't contribute to this championship.
That's what makes TEAM sports so special. Nobody gets to this point alone. You can have a great coach, great players, and great parents, but if everybody isn't pulling in the same direction, it doesn't work.
This championship belongs to ALL OF THEM.
I think one of the coolest things about youth sports is watching a group of kids start to believe in themselves. At first, they're just a bunch of boys wearing the same jersey. Then they start figuring each other out. They learn how to compete together. They learn how to pick each other up. They learn that they can get knocked down and still come back swinging.
And somewhere along the way, they become a TEAM.
That's what I've watched happen with these Aces.
They know now.
They know they can compete. They know they belong. They know that no matter who is standing across the field, they have a chance.
And guess what?
OTHER PEOPLE ARE STARTING TO NOTICE TOO!!!
I couldn't be prouder of Coach Jack, his coaching staff, Adam, Charlie, Jason, these parents, and every single one of these boys.
To do what they've done in their FIRST season together is special. But what gets me most excited is knowing that these boys are just getting started.
They've got a whole lot of baseball ahead of them, a whole lot left to learn, and a whole lot of growing to do.
But they've already learned something that you can't teach with a bucket of baseballs.
That when everybody buys in, everybody matters, and everybody fights for each other, some pretty special things can happen.
Congratulations, LEGENDS ACES 9U!
You boys earned every bit of this.
