We get DM’s asking about differences between Split and Split+. And for good reason. We understand the confusion!

Split works as an occlusive barrier: it seals over a split or flapper and locks in whatever moisture is already there. It doesn’t add hydration, it traps it. Apply this liberally as needed as it actively protects the split or small cut.

Split+ is a water-based hyaluronic acid cream. That’s the key distinction: because it contains water plus hyaluronic acid, it actively hydrates the skin rather than just sealing it. Apply a small amount to the spots that need it most.

So in practice:

* Split = your barrier/maintenance balm. Protecting a flapper, locking in moisture throughout the day. Lighter, throw-it-in-the-chalk-bag use. Use it directly after climbing to kickstart the healing process.

* Split+ = the intensive therapeutic version for skin that’s more damaged / torn up… deeper splits, multiple worn-through tips, post-climbing or working destruction. More hydration, more active regeneration, but you use less of it.

If you’re picking one to keep in the bag for climbing or working days, Split is the more practical daily driver. Split+ is the one to keep at home for when your tips are genuinely wrecked for overnight recovery.

Let’s talk about Hydrate (previously known as “Spit”)…

We have multiple solutions of varying intensity for folks with wetter skin. Things like Performance, Dry Spray, and even for the extreme cases: Tip Juice, of which we will cover soon.

Hydrate works the other way. It’s an aloe-based spray that absorbs fast, restores moisture, and brings your skin’s elasticity back so it can actually grip the way it’s supposed to. Spray it on before you tie in, let it tack up, and go. That’s really it. The climbers — like and — who’ve worked this into their routine don’t show up without it. If dry skin has been the thing standing between you and your project, Hydrate is worth a real look.

(Worth noting: if yours looks a little brown, that’s just the organic aloe we switched to)

What does Rhino Repair even do?! Well, as we all know, rock can be super abrasive. As we damage our skin, we can also build it back up. Repair is basically a supercharger for this process. It instantly soothes worn skin and kickstarts the healing process. This is why it’s the most popular solution in our lineup. It’s versatile and if you can only take one product with you on a trip, Repair is a great choice.

“This massive, hanging and suggestive cave struck a chord with many climbers already before Dai Koyamada claimed the first ascent in May 2015. A few years earlier, some articles and photos pictured this as one of the next big boulders of our era which, beyond the several difficulties, framed my dreams together with some other classics of those days.
The time of those first images matches my entrance in the 20s, the moment when I decided to make bouldering my full-time activity and when I had an overwhelming dose of climbing dreams which brimmed my brain every single night.”

What is your skin telling you? Too dry? Too wet? It’s all about the balance of both sides of the spectrum. For climbing you want your skin soft enough that it can stick to holds and form a solid connection to the rock, but not so soft that it damages easily or slides around without enough friction. You also want your skin dry enough that it has a little rigidity and toughness to stay in place, but not so dry that your finger tips are hard and glassy.

We have quite a few solutions of varying degrees to achieve this balance so you can have a much easier time on the rock (and in the gym). Check the 2nd slide to find your perfect solution.
