🤠 Can you believe it? Tomorrow is the Cowgirl Ball!

🩷 Today, the last day on our walk down memory lane, we recognize our 2016 Cowgirls, Cowboys, and Cowpokes of the Year, The Forward Stride Community!

Forward Stride would not be what it is without the volunteers, donors, participants, horses, staff, and board who keep the mission alive each and every day. When a client comes for their session, they don’t just interact with their instructor or therapist and then go home. They are welcomed by other clients, volunteers, staff, and horses and they become part of something much larger than just a riding barn, vaulting club, or therapy clinic. Today we honor the fortitude, care, grit, and gumption of everyone who has lifted a pitchfork, given a dollar, or shared a smile with someone at the barn. We honor you.

And we’re so excited to see you tomorrow at THE COWGIRL BALL!

🤠 3 Days to the Cowgirl Ball!

🩷 Today we recognize our 2014 Cowgirl and Cowboy of the Year, Linda & Junki Yoshida!

Linda & Junki Yoshida’s gumption and true grit made them powerhouses of the Pacific Northwest. Linda was a celebrated author, businesswoman, philanthropist, wife, mother, and loyal friend. She and Junki played host to Oregon governors, U.S. senators, athletes, artists, and international guests, and she is remembered for her kind heart and delight in serving her community. Her husband, Junki, is founder and CEO of Yoshida Sauce as well as the Yoshida Group, an Oregon-based conglomerate comprising 18 diverse companies. Leaving his family’s home in Japan at the age of 19, Mr. Yoshida built his success from the ground up. His gumption, determination, and perseverance saw him go from living out of his car to owning a multi-million dollar corporation. We honor the Yoshida's true grit and Linda’s memory.

🤠 7 Days to the Cowgirl Ball!

🩷 Today we recognize our 2009 Cowgirl of the Year, Donna Birtwistle!

Retired Army Staff Sgt. Donna Birtwistle was deeply moved when she learned in the spring of 2008 that over one hundred military women had died in Iraq. She asked herself, “am I supposed to just let this go by?” Her answer was no. Over the course of six weeks, Birtwistle gathered a group of 25 to 30 women in her hometown of Moro, Oregon, and, together, created a patchwork quilt commemorating the 113 U.S. military women who had died during the global war on terrorism. The quilt was unveiled at a ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery where it was first displayed until it was moved for display at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals. We recognize Birtwistle’s care and fortitude, and honor her memory.
