πŸŽ‰ Congratulations to author Matthew Wong Foreman and Indigo client and publisher 7.13 Books on the publication of "Sunset at Lion Rock." The book is officially released today!

"Sunset at Lion Rock is a coming-of-age novel set in the Aughts of a post-Handover Hong Kong, after the British returned the city to China in 1997. The son of a British father and a Hong Kong Chinese mother, Eric teeters between cultures, faiths, and histories, confused about everything. His childhood, shaped by his devoutly Buddhist mother, aunt, and grandmother-who believe he's the reincarnation of his dead uncle-haunts him at every turn.

"Hong Kong is a place defined by collective amnesia about its own history and cultural significance. Amidst the chaos of his life in this fractured city, the one thing that Eric develops is his exquisite sense of poetry and..."

πŸ“‘ If you’re a nonfiction author or publisher, you already know how beneficial an easy-to-navigate index is for readers.

πŸ“” After all editing and design has been completed, one of our expert indexers will read the full book to notate important topics and subtopics and their page numbers according to professional book publishing standards set by the American Society for Indexing. The index is provided in a Word document, which the book designer then places at the back of the designed book.

Infusing the old writing process with some easy-breezy games sounds like a fun way to spend a long weekend! β˜€οΈ πŸ“” 😎

T L Murchison lists some creative flights of fancy in "Writing a Novel: Make a Game of it" for Laterpress. Here's one of our favorites: Break The Glass

"Got a passage you’re not happy with? Print out each sentence on a sheet of paper, cut up into strips and throw them all in a hat. Draw them out randomly and put them together in that order. A variation on this is to cut the sentences themselves into three parts (subject, verb and object), toss all of them into a hat and after drawing them out, try to put them back together into sentences."

Indigo socials with our Portland-based Indigo team members are always a blast!

[PD: A graphic reads "Throwback Thursday" at top with a torn paper design beneath it. A circular stamped Indigo design is in the upper righthand corner. In center is a photo from our Portland Indigo team lunch. Four people, (from left ro right,) Ali Shaw, Olivia Hammerman, Nicki Yowell, and Vinnie Kinsella smile and pose in front of a yellow wall decorated with elephant art. At the bottom a graphic appearing like paper taped on a page, bears a caption: Some members of our Portland-based team gather for a lunch social in 2023.]
