We are weeks past International Women's Day, & we're still celebrating, honoring, respecting, learning from, working with equitably, advocating for, & holding space for women, as they want & need. Every woman has value & deserves respect & equity simply for being alive. That said, throughout history, so many world-changing, civilization-changing, history-in-the-making moments have involved, been successful on the backs of, or been led by, but rarely fully recognized, women.
Take a minute & think about women-dominated industries- educators, caregivers, nurses, administrators, mental health professionals, dental/physician/veterinary assistants, community organizers, nonprofits, & supportive civil services, civil rights advocacy, survivors of violence, & all the services needed to undo the harm that women experience at a very high rate. The world would not function effectively without these women-dominated industries; communities & relationships would not exist without the physical & emotional labor provided by women.
When we listen to, trust, support, & empower women—especially those most at risk of oppression, such as Black, Trans, &/or Disabled women—we improve life for all women & enrich humanity regardless of gender through the full diversity of womanhood.
