Our doors may be closed today, but we're still hard at work! 🐴

Heidi is meeting with horses and riders for saddle fittings, while Kim is spending the day learning alongside other Rochester-area business owners as part of a local business consortium. Today's topic? How new technology can help small businesses work smarter and more efficiently! 😊

One of the things about running a small, independent saddlery is that not all of our work happens inside the shop.

Some days we're fitting saddles, some days we're working at the bench, and some days we're learning new things to help us do what we do even better.

Different locations, same commitment to our horses, riders, and customers!

Our saddle fitter, Heidi, is heading out for a few days of saddle fittings in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia!

Different barns, different horses, different riders — and plenty of saddles to evaluate along the way.

It's all part of what we love about saddle fitting: helping horses move comfortably and riders feel confident, wherever the road takes us.

Here's to good horses, great clients, and a few miles on the odometer!

🐴 Ever Wonder What's in a Saddler's Toolbox?
A whole lot more than you might think!

We set up this display for an Equine Career Day to give students a glimpse into the world of saddle fitting and saddlery.

From wool flocking and gullet plates to leatherworking tools, needles, thread, and replacement billets, there's a lot that goes into the work we do at Patchwork Saddlery!

Being a saddle fitter isn't just about saddles. It's about understanding horses, evaluating how saddles fit, solving problems, and having the hands-on skills to make adjustments and repairs when appropriate.

We love opportunities to introduce young people to the many different careers available in the equine industry. Who knows? Maybe there's a future saddle fitter or saddler in the group! 🐎

At Patchwork Saddlery, we carry a wide selection of new and used saddles, representing a variety of brands, styles, and price points.

But here's something you might not know: Sometimes our saddle fitter recommends a saddle we don't carry.

Why? Because every horse and rider combination is different, and the best solution isn't always sitting in our showroom.

As independent saddle fitters, we evaluate the needs of both horse and rider and recommend what works best for them—not simply what we have available to sell.

Our goal is always to help you find the right saddle for you and your horse—even if that means recommending a saddle we don't carry.

Today, this gentleman took home a beautiful Hastilow & Sons Fieldmaster Jump saddle—and this particular model has a special connection to Patchwork Saddlery.

Our own Heidi Hauslauer, Society of Master Saddlers Qualified Saddle Fitter, designed the Fieldmaster specifically with male foxhunters in mind. 🦊
