Race Report

Saturday night Antioch speedway

17 BCRA midgets.
Fought a mechanical problem all night.
No hot laps, no qualifing, missed the heat race

Started 16th in the main (shotgun) on the field and somehow drove it to a 3rd place finish.

Many thanks to everyone who helped us get it on the track for the main.

Next up on the race schedule

The month of May is a busy one The Quick Change Liquid Energy CA super Series WMR/BCRA midget division, accompanied by the Lightning Sprints, will compete at Merced Speedway's high banks on May 16th. The Lightning Sprints will be in attendance for the Wayne Albright Memorial.

The asphalt pits will be open early
American Racer Tires will be available for purchase on site.
We anticipate a strong turnout and look forward to seeing you at the event.

Race Report

Saturday Night round 2 of BCRA/WMR Super series
16 Midgets total
Night started off great Qualified 2nd out of 16
Started 6th in our heat race and finished 1st.
Lined us up to start 5th in the main event.
In the Main on the start in the first corner, we got ran over and didnt even make 1 full lap. Car was smashed and done for the night.

Off to Merced in 2 weeks

Next up Marysville this Saturday

Just one week away from the WMR/BCRA California Super Series hitting the Marysville Raceway on May 2nd! The race serves as round two for the Super Series and round four of the Western Midget Racing season. Preston Norbury won the Super Series opener at Placerville while Logan Mitchell led the WMR legal cars. 360 Winged Sprint Cars and NorCal Dwarf Cars will also be competing. Hot laps begin at 5pm

Race Report

We Ran Placerville Saturday night.
1st race of the combined WMR/BRCA super series
14 total cars
Cody ran the WMR #11 The super series car wasn't ready to go.
Qualified 6th out of 14
Started 4th in heat #2 and won the heat race
Started 6th in the 30 lap main ran 5th/6th for most of the main on around lap 25 the car was starting to overheat and had to pull in with 3 to go.
Still managed a 8th place finish

Next up is Marysville on May 2nd

CODY GRAY WINS SECOND CONSECUTIVE WMR FEATURE WITH ANTIOCH VICTORY

ANTIOCH, CALIFORNIA (April 5, 2026) – Auburn’s Cody Gray continued a red-hot start to the 2026 Western Midget Racing season by claiming round two on Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. Gray has two heat race wins and two feature wins after two nights of action for the stock production Midget series. Photo by Top Dawg Photos

Gray and Delano’s Terry Nichols split the eight-lap heat races, then shared the front row for the feature. Gray zipped to a six second advantage at the checkered flag in a sizzling performance. Nichols finished second for the second time this season. 2025 champion Logan Mitchell overcame trouble getting his car to start for the feature, storming from the back to finish third. Rookie Nicholas Leonard finished fourth followed by Nathan Moore in fifth.

Western Midget Racing heads into a stretch of three consecutive co-sanctioned races, paying points for the race within a race against the Bay Cities Racing Association Midgets in the California Super Series. The series go head-to-head on April 18 at Placerville Speedway, May 2 at Marysville Raceway, and May 16 at Merced Speedway.

CODY GRAY OPENS 2026 WESTERN MIDGET RACING SEASON IN VICTORY LANE

WATSONVILLE, CALIFORNIA (March 21, 2026) – Western Midget Racing opened its 2026 season at the newly re-named Watsonville Speedway with a new winner with Auburn, Calif.’s Cody Gray prevailing in the 20-lap feature. Friday’s action was the first race at Watsonville’s quarter-mile dirt track under the direction of new promoters Rob Gallaher and Samantha Harper, with a healthy crowd on hand.

Primarily known as a Micro Sprint driver, Gray made four starts in the WMR series in 2025. He earned a best finish of second at Ventura before he finally broke into the win column this weekend.

Gray won the first six-lap heat race. Rookie pilot Nicholas Leonard of San Jose drove the Boscacci Racing No. 09 to victory in his inaugural heat race in the second run.

Delano’s Terry Nichols and defending champion Logan Mitchell of Santa Cruz shared the front row for the feature. Mitchell immediately darted out to the lead before slowing with mechanical issues on lap eight that eventually dropped him out of the event.

Gray inherited the lead then maintained it over several short cautions to win the feature. Nichols opened his season in second followed by Isaac Johnson, Leonard, and Cole Frerichs of Wheatland.

Western Midget Racing makes its first of five Antioch Speedway stops on Saturday April 4.

2025 racing season has not gone as planned

We broke our 360 engine on the 4th of July.

Since then Cody got a opportunity to run the #11 WMR midget for Kevin Felkins and had a couple DNF at ocean speedway

So Saturday he was at Antioch raceway for his 3rd race.
I (Dad) came to support and help out and next thing I know Cody is saying Dad see if you can fit in that 35 car.
Next thing I know is hey we just signed you and your racing now. It only been about 32 years from I ran a dirt mini stock.

8 total WMR cars.
Heat race Cody finished 4th I finished 7th
Main event Cody finished 3rd I finished 6th

I was pretty slow and tried to stay our of the way. I think Cody lapped me like 5 times. My goal was to just finish and I did

It was a one in a lifetime to be it the same race father and son.
