The doubles round is $5 with 100% payout, plus optional Ace Pool and cash CTPs. If nobody hits an ace during the round, we will have an Ace Pool throw off afterward.

The course is FREE TO PLAY, with a $2 vehicle entrance fee to Tanglewood Park. Disc golf parking is located at the Peter S. Brunstetter Aquatic Center.

We believe Tanglewood has the potential to become one of the premier disc golf destinations in North Carolina and possibly the entire Southeast. Come join in playing some disc golf and help us celebrate the beginning of something very special at Tanglewood Park!

🥏 TANGLEWOOD DISC GOLF COURSE GRAND OPENING! 🥏

Team DGDG is incredibly excited to announce the official GRAND OPENING of the new Tanglewood Disc Golf Course on Friday, September 18 at noon!

From the moment you drive into Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, North Carolina, you know you are somewhere special. With more than 1,100 acres of beautiful rolling terrain, mature forests, lakes, historic structures, gardens, trails, and recreational facilities, Tanglewood is truly one of the premier parks in North Carolina. We believe the new disc golf course is going to become another major reason for people from across the state, the Southeast, and beyond to visit this incredible park.

We could not be more excited about how this course has turned out! Our DGDG team has designed courses for over 20 years and we believe Tanglewood has the potential to become one of the best disc golf destinations in North Carolina, if not the entire Southeast. The property gave us an opportunity to incorporate just about everything we love about disc golf course design: major elevation changes, tightly designed wooded holes, beautiful green grass fairways, peninsula greens, water carries, demanding landing zones, and a tremendous variety of shot shapes and distances.

The main 18 hole course features four primary layouts designed to provide a great experience for a wide range of players. The Red MA 2/3 layout plays 4,659 feet at par 58, while the Red & White MA1 layout stretches to 7,098 feet at par 61. The White FPO layout increases the challenge to 8,442 feet at par 63, and the championship Blue MPO layout reaches an impressive 10,524 feet at par 66. With multiple tee pads and basket locations throughout the property, players can experience very different versions of the course depending on their skill level and the layout they choose.

Altogether, the project includes 33 baskets and 51 tee pads. It also features a separate six hole short course beside the dedicated disc golf shelter and practice basket. The short course is designed as an approachable place for beginners to learn the game, while also providing experienced players a convenient place to warm up before taking on the main course.

12:00 PM - Official Grand Opening

12:30–2:00 PM - FREE Disc Golf Lesson
The DGDG team will be on hand to introduce new players to the sport and help existing players improve their game. No experience necessary.

2:00 PM - Random Draw Doubles Signups. Field Capped at first 72 players to sign up.

3:00 PM - Random Draw Doubles Round
$5 entry with 100% payout, plus optional Ace Pool and cash CTPs. If nobody hits an ace during the round, we will have an Ace Pool throw off afterward.

Team DGDG went international over the past couple of weeks!

I was fortunate to represent Disc Golf Design Group while traveling through Scotland and Ireland, where I played rounds at four different disc golf courses and, of course, spent plenty of time checking out the course designs along the way.

First up was my favorite of the trip, Springburn Disc Golf Course in Glasgow, Scotland. I happened to be on the course during a solar eclipse that was visible from Glasgow. Unfortunately, the skies were pretty overcast, but I still managed to get some cool pictures and experience the noticeable change in light while playing disc golf. Pretty darn cool!

Next up were two courses around Galway, Ireland. Eile Mental had some really cool terrain and plenty of potential, although the course could definitely use some additional love and upkeep.

I also played the beginner friendly 12 hole course at Wildlands Adventure Centre. It was super short, but a lot of fun. I aced Hole #1 at a whopping 67 meters. I am pretty sure it was the shortest ace I have ever had, but an ace is an ace!

The final stop was Corkagh Disc Golf Course in Dublin. I enjoyed the layout and had an especially good time playing this one because my son Andrew joined me for the round.

All in all, it was a blast getting to play disc golf while traveling through Scotland and Ireland. Every course offered something different, and I found moments of joy, inspiration, and some pretty cool design features at all four courses.

Hopefully, some of the networking along the way will eventually help Team DGDG land a design project across the pond.

Another awesome maintenance and tune-up day at Fire Mountain Disc Golf Sanctuary in Cherokee!

We did a lot of string trimming. We cut up and moved downed trees on holes 7 and 9. We picked up some litter (there was very little). We met some nice folks from Franklin.

The course is exceptional condition. Come play this hidden gem when you get a chance.

Another epic maintenance and tune-up day at Fire Mountain Disc Golf Sanctuary in Cherokee!

We did a ton of string trimming. We cut up and moved downed trees on hole 10. We picked up some litter (there was very little).

We installed several new tee and information signs. We met a nice family visiting from Pennsylvania.

The course is excellent condition. Come play this hidden gem when you get a chance.
