Hi, Iām Emily!
I know many of you donāt know me since I spend so much time behind the scenes these days, so I wanted to reintroduce myself.
I started my career in finance, later transitioned into critical care nursing, and eventually opened our first studio in 2017.
People often ask how I went from nursing to Pilates, but to me the connection has always felt natural.
Nursing taught me to think critically, recognize subtle changes and understand that pain, mobility limitations and movement patterns rarely exist in isolation. You learn to look beyond symptoms, identify patterns and make decisions based on evidence rather than trends.
When I found Pilates, I recognized many of those same principles. Good teaching isnāt about memorizing exercises. Itās about understanding biomechanics, applying the right progressions and adapting movement to the person standing in front of you.
Over the past eight years, Iāve taught well over 10,000 classes and worked with thousands of clients, including athletes, prenatal and postpartum clients, older adults, people recovering from injuries, clients with chronic pain, hypermobile clients, complete beginners and highly conditioned movers.
Teaching that many classes changes you.
You stop relying on rules and start recognizing patterns.
You learn when someone needs encouragement to work a little harder, when they need reassurance theyāre capable of more, and when modifying an exercise is the smarter choice.
Those experiences have shaped not only how I teach, but also how weāve trained our instructors and built this studio.
I donāt believe in gimmicks or one-size-fits-all workouts. I believe people deserve instructors who truly see them, understand movement beyond cueing exercises, and know how to challenge them safely and effectively.
Thatās the kind of studio I hoped to create, and itās still what guides us today.
