ACS would like to recognize the Varsity Trap Team for placing 17th in the 2026 State Tournament! Seven shooters qualified for the Nationals Team Squad, where only 240 teams out of 2,000 made it to Nationals; 37 of which represented Michigan. By Sunday's final round, only 80 remained and Almont was one of them. Congrats Varsity Trap Team!

Wanted to send a huge thanks to the Schapman's for hosting the year end Trap Team party. Great time and great food for those who were able to make the event. Had a few more families show up after some grad parties, then a bonfire and laughs continued into the night where we were finally able to see some stars after a hazy week.

Again- many thanks!

As the Spring Season has come to an end and we are now gearing up for the Fall Season the Team & Boosters wanted to send a huge thanks again to Edward Jones - Andrew Roosa

Not only is Mr. Roosa's office a Platinum sponsor but Andy is the Head Coach of the Trap Team and President of the Almont Trap Boosters program. Without his efforts, time, and leadership along with the other coaching staff this team couldn't happen. Coach Andy loves to invest in the community and most importantly its children, our future. With the funds provided by Mr. Roosa we are able to get our kids shooting more with a smaller expense passed on to the families.

Many thanks!! 🧡🖤

As the Spring Season has come to an end and we are now gearing up for the Fall Season, the Team & Boosters wanted to send a huge thanks again to the Lapeer County Pheasants Forever!!

The Lapeer Chapter is one of our Platinum sponsors and because of their funds we are able to get our kids shooting more with a smaller expense passed on to the families.

During our time at Nationals we saw a ton of sponsor banners from many other states with the support of their local Pheasants Forever Chapters. This group truly understand that the future of shooting sports & hunting starts with our children. It's an honor to have them as part of our team. Please consider supporting them at their annual banquet held at the Bell's in March.

Many thanks!! 🧡🖤

2026 USAHSCTL Nationals was an amazing experience. One almost tough to put into words.

Did we feel that we might be going into this event as underdogs? Yep! Did we feel like we had a shot? About as good as those who qualified. Was making it past the qualifier a long shot? Probably. Did we earn the right to be there? 💯 Was there a ton of pressure all weekend? More than most will understand. Did we make it to the final round? Heck yeah we did!!! Is this really our only 2nd year as a team? Per a very nice covo waiting for the port-a-jon. Est. 2025 baby!!!

As a head coach we don't make decisions for today, we make them to prepare our kids for tomorrow. 2026 Nationals was just that. After the first round this morning as a team we huddled together and realized top honors we're out so we decided that we had two goals. Get Logan a patch and just chillax using this time to practice for 2027 Natty's. After the pressure subsided, the fist bumps and the comaraderie was top notch during post change. It happened a lot off the field but this was the first time they were loose enough to do it on the field. Less thinking & more shoot'n! Proud of the boys for that!! Although Logan didn't earn his 25 patch (has plenty, just not a Nationals yet) he pulled off 3x 24's going after it. That was a huge accomplish in itself. No matter the outcome, they still won as a team.

Yes, we only finished 68 out of 80 that made it to the finals. Yes, we didn't score as well as a team as we did on Friday with a 458 vs 464. Yes, Jaxson unfortunately didn't take top honors as an Individual.

This is what we did accomplish. 4 PR's over the weekend. 7 patches as a team with a first ever for Emerson & Jaxson. Made it to the final round as a team. Finished 7th out of the 8 Michigan teams. Had two teammates make it to the individual qualifier with one moving onto the final round. Made it to Nationals out of +40,000 students, +2,000 teams, & only 1 Almont Raiders!

Know there are 5 young men already eager to Practice-Practice-Practice even more to earn the right to come back in 2027. Know that there is a coaching staff eager to have more individual qualifiers from our team earn the right to experience Nationals.

2027... here we come! Well, after fall season.

Almont Trap had an amazing day competing in the Nationals Individual qualifier.

First, both Jaxson Kozik and Shane Roosa earned a 25 Straight patch. This was Jason's first patch so we need to add him to hats that need to be shot from the weekend.

Jaxson qualified to move onto the Finals Sunday with a 95/100 and finished in the Top 400. 95 was the cutoff with 108 kids shooting that score and his reverse run of 23 kept him in contention.

Shane unfortunatley missed the cut shooting a 91, although finished in the top half of the field.

Shane - Flight 2 - 42 & 49
Jaxson - Flight 6 - 47 & 48

This Sunday morning our squad of 5 shoots for their shot the Nationals Team Final.

Then Sunday afternoon, Jaxson shoots for his shot at the Nationals Individual Final.

Go Raiders!!
