On Tuesday, November 3rd, voters in the Imlay City school district will be asked to renew the non-homestead operating millage, which was originally passed in 1994 and has been continually renewed over the 32 years since.
A non-homestead millage is critical to the survival of the school district, accounting for approximately 10% of our entire budget. If not renewed, the district would need to significantly cut non-mandatory programs and services to make up for the revenue shortfall, including athletics and transportation services, among others.
The millage is a tax levy affecting businesses, certain agricultural properties, rental properties, and commercial properties - NOT on taxpayers’ homes.
