Saturday Drop-In Classes at Albany Chess Center

Tomorrow at Albany Chess Center, the question is not if you are ready. It is which class you are walking into.

The Beginner Class opens at 1:00 PM, with instructions on fundamentals, basic tactics, and board vision.

The Intermediate Class follows at 2:00 PM for developing players pushing deeper into tactical patterns, strategy, and practical decision-making.

This June, we are running a Summer Chess Camp at The Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs and inviting families to be part of it. Here’s why-

We have been teaching chess to kids in our weekly classes for a long time, and we always see the same thing. A child arrives shy, a little unsure, maybe just curious.

A few weeks in, they are calling out tactics across the room with confidence.

From June 29 to July 3, your child can have fun and build their mental capacity through chess.

Chess does the opposite. It asks a child to slow down. To sit with a problem. To think before acting. And they help shape how a child handles everything else in their life.

If you have been playing on your own without a real plan, this is the class that gives all of it some shape.

Beginner and Intermediate groups run side-by-side at 6:00 PM.

Many kids who love chess do not always have someone at school who loves it back.

They learn an opening on their own, solve puzzles on their own, and rarely get to talk about any of it.

A great summer camp can change that.

Our Summer Chess Camp at The Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs brings together kids who actually want to be there. By Friday, many of them walk out with new friends, fun memories, and the knowledge that they are not the only ones who love this game.

Give your kid something to look forward to this summer.

There is a particular look a kid gets when they figure something out on their own. You cannot fake it, and you cannot give it to them. They have to earn it.

Our Summer Chess Camp at The Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs is built around those moments. A week of chess where your child works through things and comes out the other side knowing they did it themselves.

By Friday, most kids walk out more confident than they walked in.

The camp runs from June 29 to July 3. Ages 5 to 12. All skill levels are welcome.
