First college rodeo is officially in the books!
We headed up to Colby, Kansas on Thursday and spent the first couple days hanging out, watching everyone compete, and getting ready for my run Saturday night.
After several barrel racers slipped and a horse went down Friday morning, the directors made the decision that the arena wasn’t safe for the barrels. So it turned into a little more of an adventure than we expected. The closest arena they could find was in McCook, Nebraska, another hour and a half north.
We loaded up, made the drive to Nebraska, got ready, made our run, and then turned around and drove 7 1/2 hours back home. Definitely not how I pictured my first college rodeo going, but it’s one I’ll never forget!
We didn’t make the short go this time, but I’m so thankful just to have the opportunity to be here and compete.
Thank you to my coach for giving me this opportunity, my parents for always believing in me and supporting me, and the Colby rodeo directors for putting the safety of the athletes first.
First one down, and I’m ready for the next!
