Fifty years on from Montreal, the rivalries, stories and memories are still very much alive.

At Lake Karapiro, New Zealand’s 1976 Olympic rowing squad reunited for the first time since the Games - sharing tales of fierce club battles, Olympic campaigns, lifelong friendships and the crews that helped shape an era of New Zealand rowing.

The reunion has since taken on even deeper meaning following the recent passing of Grant McAuley, one of the great oarsmen of his generation and a respected member of the 1976 squad.

From Avon and Petone to Waikato and Whakatane, this is a story about competition, camaraderie, loss and the enduring bond created through rowing.

🎉 Congratulations Ash Schutz 🎉

Ash, a former rower of Whakatane High School and Whakatane Rowing Club, has been selected for the New Zealand U19 Development Team to compete at 2026 International Rowing Challenge in Ann Arbor, Michigan, 9-11 July.

Ash was a fierce competitor right from the start. He put in 💯 effort every outing, every erg session, every regatta. So it is not surprising that you have made it this far.

We wish you all the best for the next step in your journey!!

🚣‍♂️🚣‍♂️ Maadi Regatta - Day 5 - Start of the finals 🚣‍♂️🚣‍♂️

Action packed day and more on the way … with day 1 of finals tomorrow.

Friday at 3:03pm we’ll see Adam and Sam take on the B Final of the U17 2x. Row hard fullas 💪🏼

Today, roles were reversed as the coxswains had their chance to show the rowers what they’re made of in the coxswains race - well done to Dylan Penny and Corban Meekel, along with their cox, Callum Hughes. Hope you guys had a blast out there!!
