Friday food for thought 🧠🌱

This is my take on Pilates practice ikigai although it could be expanded even more.

We all can agree that we don't always want what we need, but at the same time we wouldn't attend a Pilates session if we didn't get what we want 🎯

Finances - it has to be affordable for the clients and feasible for the teachers. Without this, nothing happens 💸

Pilates teachers and studios are different and so are the clients. It is about finding the right match 🤍

Just a quick heads-up — I’ll be away on some very overdue holidays from 10 June to 23 July ✈️

I’m really looking forward to spending quality time with my family and catching up on some much-needed rest (hello chronic sleep deprivation 😆).

Massage appointments are still available up to and including 6 June.

All current Pilates classes will continue as usual while I’m away:

• Northlake Pilates
– Tuesdays 9:30am (Progress)
– Wednesdays 5:30pm (Essentials)

• Central Lakes Physio & Pilates
– Wednesdays 10:45am (Women’s Health Pilates)
– Thursdays 5:15pm (Mat)

1-on-1 Pilates sessions are also available on request.

We had the very first women's health Pilates class yesterday !

It a class specifically designed for postnatal, pre- & post gynae surgery, prolapse, incontinence & pelvic pain, diastasis and those hesitant to return to exercise. It was so great to have women of different stages and ages attending 🤍

This class consists of education and Pilates. We want to empower women with tools and knowledge to better understand their body and improve their pelvic health.

There are spaces still available for the next 5 weeks - Wednesdays 10:45am.

How to navigate the reformer jungle? 🤔

Reformer is everywhere now. Reformer is the most popular Pilates apparatus, but not all workouts on reformer are Pilates. And Pilates is way more than reformer 🤯

As reformer is becoming a mainstream fitness equipment it can get confusing and a little homework is needed to avoid disappointment and make sure you get what you are after.

There is space and demand for Pilates as well as fitness classes using reformer but it is good to understand the difference 🖤

Jumping on the 2016 trend!

I wouldn't have posted this but it was a year turned my life around and planted the seed of coming to NZ 🛫

I was still a physio then. I've mostly made peace with not working as a physio here due to bureaucracy, but not gonna lie, this memory has stirred things up 💔

At the same time, I remember I was burnt out, tired of the constant competition and was always feeling the pressure to impress my boss and colleagues. Later I realized, it was just not the right set up for me but aren't we all clever in hindsight 🤪

I was aspiring to achieve something in rowing but injured my back. That was the turning point to try and figure out what to do with my life. I went on a few trips and decided I wanted to travel and see the mountains.

And so hello New Zealand in 2017.
