🥏 Pro tip from the lost-and-found trenches:

Inked discs come home faster.

The single biggest predictor of whether a disc gets returned is whether the owner's name and contact info is on it.

We see it weekly on Disc-Connected: two identical discs found at the same course in the same week. One has "Tom 027###" sharpied on the back. The other is blank.

Guess which one gets reunited.

Best practice:
🖊 First name + phone number on the underside of the rim
🖊 Metallic Sharpie for dark discs — they last longer
🖊 Re-ink every few months — sweat and friction wear them down

Disc-Connected does the heavy lifting when ink is missing, but ink + Disc-Connected = practically guaranteed return 🤝

Quick refresher on how Disc-Connected works 👇

🥏 You FOUND a disc:
1. Take a photo
2. Log it on Disc-Connected — brand, mold, colour, course
3. Done. The owner gets notified automatically if their lost-disc post matches.

😩 You LOST a disc:
1. Post your missing disc (same fields)
2. We email you when a matching disc gets logged at your course
3. Send a "Ping" to the finder — they accept, and you swap contact details via the platform

Big news 🇳🇿

NZ Disc Golf has officially endorsed Disc-Connected as their recommended lost & found platform for the New Zealand disc golf community.

For us, this means a lot. NZDG is the national body for the sport here, and getting their formal recommendation is a vote of confidence from the people who know the community best.

For you, it means: if you lose a disc, the platform NZDG points to is built specifically for disc golfers — proper privacy controls, automated owner-notification emails when matching discs are posted, and no spam.

Did you know you can easily share specific lost and found listings directly from Disc-Connected to your local club's page? 🥏📢

Sometimes a lost disc just needs a little extra visibility to make it home. If you spot a listing from your home course on the database, here’s how you can help spread the word:

1️⃣ Find a Listing
Browse the Disc-Connected database and click on any lost or found disc to open its details.

2️⃣ Hit the Share Button
Click the "Share" or "Copy Link" button right there on the listing. (If you're on your phone, it integrates perfectly with your native sharing options!) 📱

3️⃣ Post it to Your Local Group!
Paste the link directly into your local Facebook group, Discord server, or Messenger chat.

The link sends people straight to that specific disc's page, where the owner (or finder) can instantly send a secure "Ping" to get the return started. 🤝
