Awesome achievement by the Katikati lads featuring Chris Brewer....well done to all involved and setting the bar high for dedication to your squash family.
Katikati Squash Club, its members and the committee would like to thank Chris, Logan and Braden Brewer and Hayden Revell for the outstanding effort in achieving the unofficial Longest Squash Marathon for Doubles World Record at 40hours and 1 minute. The hard work and determination of these 4 men was amazing and we are super proud to call them ours, we are extremely grateful for their efforts to raise money to repair and refurnish our old club.
The Guys also added a new unofficial world record, Longest Squash Rally (Doubles) with 4348 strikes of the ball in 1hr 52 mins and 40 seconds.
A big thanks to those who joined the Most People Participating in a Squash Rally, the new unofficial record is 63 people. We had an amazing attendance to join in on the rally as well as spectators, from all over the Bay and further afield.
Glenn Templeton and Winona-Jo Joyce also attempted to break the world record for Longest Squash Rally (Singles). They unofficially achieved this by striking the ball 3563 times in 1 hr and 10 minutes. The previous record stood at 3408 shots.
Thank you to everyone who came along to the club over the weekend to support the guys and the club, it was great to see all the support.
Thank you to all the volunteers that put in the effort to organise this event and help it run smoothly. Events like this don't run themselves and the amount of people who put their hands up to help out was overwhelming.
So far we have raised $6,830 on our give a little page as well as $6400 that was donated via other methods, we are extremely grateful for these generous contributions from each and every one of you.
We are well on the way to getting our project started.
