We had a late start to the 25/26 speedway season this year.

While waiting for the new KMac we ventured into Super Saloon territory with the 26s Pro x Super Saloon, thanks to Mufflers NZ. Although Blake tipped it upside down in his first race, we did a few meetings at Stratford and also the NZ Super Saloon Champs and NZ Super Saloon North Island’s.
Got a couple of good test days at Harrisville as well and feel confident we have this car sorted for next year.

Also purchased the ex Dave Ingram Pro x Saloon in January.
8 meetings for Blake and Alan in this car, the 26s Saloon, including the NZ Saloon Champs and NZ Saloon GP.
A few first and top placings here and there for Blake.

We collected the new KMac 12s Saloon in March which is on track for next season.

But tomorrow we say farewell to Blake, who for the 3rd NZ winter in a row is heading back to London to work with his sister Courtney in the movie industry.
But this time he won’t be back till February.

Which leaves Alan to race 3 cars next season. Apart from testing Blake won’t let anyone in the new 12s. 🙄
Down to 2 cars.

So we have decided to invite fill in drivers for the new season for selected events.
We will be looking for either experienced drivers from other classes wanting to try Saloons or experienced Saloon drivers to drive the Saloon or who want to experience the Super Saloon.

PM Alan if you’re interested.

Special thanks to our crew.

Some of you may have noticed we were going to Taipa Speedway for their 2 day Kings Birthday meeting.

However, Blake and Courtney’s Grandmother and Linda’s Mother, Carol Shepherd passed away earlier this week.
Obviously we canceled the trip.
Our condolences to Jim Shepherd, Carol’s Husband of over 60 years and the wider Shepherd family.

So our speedway season is now concluded and we’ll do a review soon.

All the best for everyone attending the Taipa meeting.
Anyone looking for last minute accommodation in Taipa close to the track, the 2 rooms we cancelled at the Taipa Beach Resort will maybe still be available.

Update for this weekend.

We were going to take both 26s cars north for the weekend. The Saloon to Waikaraka for the Auckland Saloon Champs tonight and the Super Saloon to Waharoa for the CTRA North Island Super Saloon Champs on Sunday.

However with the Awakino Gorge still closed today and restricted hours on the way back tomorrow adding an extra 3 hours each way via Wanganui
we will instead just take the Mufflers NZ 26s Super Saloon to Harrisville Speedway’s (Bulls) open day tomorrow to test out the changes we’ve made to the fuel system.
We are positive we’ve fixed the issues this time.

Also a chance for Alan to drive the Super as well as Blake.

All the best for all the competitors at both events.

Thanks to.

Our 26s Super Saloon and 26s Saloon both feature on ‘Blake’s Speedway’s’ video title shots today after last nights final Stratford meeting for the season.
We would prefer not to be. lol.

Anyway.

Blake in the super saloon,
Race 1, good start and keeping up with the pack. Randomly the R/F steering arm broke causing Blake to brush the wall and retire.
Race 2, finished 5th. But again the car came in very high water temp.
So we still haven’t solved the previous fuel pressure/over heating issues. Called it a night at that.

Alan in the Saloon,
Race 1 Grid 2 finished 3rd
Race 2 Grid 6 finished 6th
Race 3 grid 4 finished 5th
Race 4, The saloons got to race in the Super Saloon feature off the back.
15 laps finished 8th and didn’t get lapped.

Big learning night for Alan in only his 3rd meeting for the season.
Excellent coaching from Blake.

Thanks to Cohin and Levi for looking after 2 cars.

Congratulations to the drivers making the podiums for the 3 titles.

We are running both the 26s Saloon with Alan driving for the Plews Memorial trophy and the 26s Super Saloon with Blake driving for the Taranaki Super Saloon Champs at Stratford’s final meeting of the season.

Hopefully we can get a clean run in the troublesome Super for a change.

There’s a 4th race with both supers and saloons together.

We’ll report on the out come tomorrow as we will be busy tonight.

Good night at Rotorua BOP Champs last night.

Race 1, grid 3 finished 3rd.
Race 2, grid 9 finished 9th after a bit of mayhem and the wrong set up.

Bit of a frustrating one..

We made the tow up from Whanganui - like many others - at a significant cost, only for the meeting to be called once everyone had already arrived.

What’s frustrating isn’t just the call, it’s the timing. If there were known issues with the track leading into today, that information should have been communicated earlier so teams could make their own call whether to travel.

We completely understand the need to get things right, especially given the circumstances in the sport right now. Safety has to come first - no arguments here.

But with that comes a responsibility to be upfront and transparent. Competitors, crews and supporters invest a lot of time and money into getting to these meetings.

Rotorua tomorrow 🙏🏁

In the shed today getting ready for 2 nights racing for Blake in the 26s Saloon at Waikaraka Park (Auckland Saloon Champs) tomorrow night, (Saturday) and Rotorua Speedway (BOP Saloon Champs) on Sunday night.

Blake has won the BOP Champs the last 2 times it has been run and is also a previous winner of the Auckland Champs. So hopefully we can put on a good show.
Lots of serious competition though. Good luck to all.

Today’s fun fact. Av Gas at Stratford Airport is now $5 a litre.

Thanks to.
