Horse Breeding and producing We have helped young riders to reach their goals and continue to do so.

Belmont Horses were started back in the 1980's by the late Mick Fryatt which eventually led to breeding top quality sport horses with the origonal stallions being Belmont Golden Boy(Ramzes II), Gruen Horn du Trichon(Imported Belgium Warmblood of Westphalien decent) Belmont Izzy (Clyde x) and Belmont Moon walker (T.B) These stallions all produced top competition sport horses and competed successfu

lly to the highest level of their field by us and Jody Hartstone. Although these stallions are now deceased we still hang on to some of their decendents which we continue to breed with and produce sport horses with. Sandy and Mick Fryatt have had international competition experience and have evented up to *****level throughout NZ, Australia, UK and Europe. Tragically Mick passed away in 2016 and Sandy now in her 60's is concentrating on the breeding and producing of "Koru" Dressage horses and Rangview Quarter Horses with Ross Beaven. We both have 30 plus years of experience and pride ourselves in producing happy stress free horses and riders.

Super proud of Koru Chanel (Abby) at Bates National Championships. As I was unfortunately mending a broken collar she was beautifully ridden by Sophie Griffith giving her confidence throughout the whole show. Sophie also rode her two own horses successfully at L6 & 7 in the money every time and never forgot her way all show!!! Abby travelled up perfectly, ate, drank, slept and strutted her stuff to become runner up Champion 5year old in a class full of classy horses. Infact all the young horse classes were full of classy horses! We had some positive feedback from the German judge in round one and again from NZ judge in the final. Koru Chanel also finnished 5th over all in a strong field of 28 horses in her Novice section - which was an incredible feat as she was one of the youngest in her classes.
I also enjoyed some writing for judges and catching up with good friends. Thank goodness for some warm weather 😊

Ross Beaven and I are very proud of the results from today’s NZWA classification.
It takes a lot of hard work and money breeding quality horses and it’s very rewarding being rewarded for this. Matthias was very informative and gave great feedback which helps to keep improving the future .
The Koru prefix and brand is a symbol of the amalgamation of both our past breeding interests coming together (me Belmont and Ross Rangeview) the photos below are of:

4yr old Belmont Scarlet’s first outing at the fun Christmas Waimak Adult Riding club show. Lucie our current German rider gave her a lovely first experience. Scarlet is ready now to find her forever home. Someone will be very lucky - she has a great work ethic and wants to please. 🥰

Some shots from Canterbury Dressage PL show last weekend. A great show with big entries.
Koru Chanel had a great show winning her musical Freestyle (Thank you Angela Valentine for helping to put the music together) and finnished 3rd overall in the Open Novice Horse Championship. Sophie Griffith has done a fabulous job installing some confidence in this very talented Filly. I am excited to have her home now. Making sure these finely bred young horses get a great start in life is so important and sometimes it just means a bit of a change and help to nut out their personalities.
I absolutely loved riding through my musical on Rusalka in a very competitive small tour class to Finnish 5th. She really dances to the music and makes it fun to ride.
Thank you to Canterbury Dressage for putting on a fantastic show. A delicious free BBQ and drinks and some entertainment on a warm summer evening. ☺️
Ofcourse thank you to all the sponsors involved and the Canterbury Dressage committee for making this show into one of the best!
I was sorry to hear it was Ken - the awesome secretary’s last for this show. Ken has always answered emails, made things work in favour of horse and rider times and generally just been an awesome guy. Thank you 😊

Great start to the season at Malborough premier Dressage champs for Our home bred 5yr old Filly Koru Chanel taking out L2 champion and best placed young horse. Beautifully ridden by Sophie @ SSG equestrian. A big week for this wee girl who grew up as the show went on.
I also managed a PB in the FEI Inter1 on Louise Scotter’s Rusalka. Very happy with her progress albeit slowly but surely! 😅

Belmont Scarlet. 3.5yrs old and an absolute Gem to work with. Here she is first time away from home ridden in an indoor. Impeccably behaved. Scarlet is by Donnerubin and out of the Landioso mare - Line Seven (Lola) who Georgie took to numerous PC dressage and Showhunter champs.
She will be on the market in the Spring with more education under her belt. 😊

‘Koru Chanel’ - this 4yr old filly by Furst Hit out La Peregrina has done nothing but impress us over the past few weeks of competing and staying away from home. Winning both her prelim classes at Ashburton Premier League show and then winning the 4 yr old class at the Crawford Jewelers South Island Championship Show.
Huge thanks to Ashburton dressage and Canterbury Dressage for putting on such fantastic shows. Also to all the sponsors and teams of organisers and helpers.
I must also mention my team of helpers at home to make things work - Ross Beaven - I couldn’t produce and show off these horses without your help 💖Georgia Rutherford for all your hard work while we are away and hacking out with me and Duncan Norrie for never pricking our horses - lol 🤞 Jody Hartstone for helping me with ground work to keep the Lid on a very reactive young filly - such great learning and Jody’s clinics are awesome. Holly Leach for her enthusiasm and inspiration to get me to the 4 yr old class and fantastic coaching. Casey Costello our amazing cow girl who just gives our young horses the best first experiences - so so important

Another great weekend for the horse’s we’ve bred! Huge congratulations to Emma Dickens and our Pocket Rocket - Rocky “Belmont Rockstar” for taking out champions Level 7 at wairarapa Premier dressage show. “Belmont As you wish”1st = in the 5yr old class at Waitemata World Cup show. Then a breakthrough for me - getting my 4 yr old Filly out to a show! 😅 It takes a lot of grit and determination to get these young horses prepared to compete feeling confident and safe! Big thanks to Casey Costello being there for me and taking her to her first couple of shows to get calmly through the spooks and anxiety so that I could feel safe. It takes a team!
