🚴 GREAT NEWS FOR THE GREAT TASTE TRAIL! 🎉

After the damage caused by the 2025 floods, a much-loved section of Tasman’s Great Taste Trail is ready to welcome cyclists back!

The section between Wai-iti Reserve and Quail Valley Road officially reopens this Saturday, 31 October, and the Nelson Tasman Cycle Trails Trust is inviting everyone to come along and celebrate.

It's a fantastic milestone for our region's cycling community and a reminder of the work that goes into keeping our trails open, accessible and enjoyable for locals and visitors alike.

Come along for the official reopening and community ride this Saturday 31 October
at 10:30am, from the Quail Valley Farm Car Park.

Following the official reopening, everyone is invited to jump on their bikes and enjoy a ride along the restored section.

We're lucky to have such an incredible network of trails on our doorstep, and it's great to see this important connection restored. A big thank you to everyone involved in getting this section back up and running!

Over winter and spring, Cycle Nelson was proud to lend one of our vans to the incredible team at Kai Rescue.
Kai Rescue does awesome work redistributing surplus food to families and people in need across our community — and we were stoked to help keep that food moving where it matters most.
It’s a small contribution from us, but being part of something that makes a real difference feels pretty special. Huge respect to the Kai Rescue crew and everyone who supports their mahi. 💚

Cycle Nelson are proud to support Kai Rescue by supplying one of our trusty vans through winter and spring. It has been used to deliver food parcels to those who needed support, good food for good people from around the Nelson Tasman region.
I'm riding the in two weeks time and if anybody feels inspired to donate to Kai Rescue please go to www.nec.org.nz/donate Please let us know this spring & summer if you have extra food to share and we can collect whilst driving cyclists aid the region

Still one good school-holiday day left in them?

If the answer to “what are we doing today?” is getting harder to come up with, put everyone on bikes.

One of the best things about cycling Nelson Tasman as a family is that the day doesn’t have to feel like a sporting event.
Pick an achievable ride. Stop when something looks interesting. Make lunch part of the plan. Let an e-bike take some of the work out of it if needed.
