Thank you Kaveman Tackle for the pretty shiny things. Since learning to cast an overhead, I have been flicking jigs around a lot more and found that the seem to appeal to quite a few species. Mostly smaller specimens so far, except my Trev but enjoying the challenge of mastering a new technique - by the time I'm 90, I should be a master fisher 😁

I always leave a kabura bobbing in the water no matter what I am doing out there ...historically, 90% of my fish have been caught on kaburas, including my kings.

The small solid hooksets give me more confidence when tackling the big boys ...for the most part, the smaller fish seem not so keen but that may have something to do with my retrieve- will play around with that and see.

Four days, 3 fishing trips, one land, two on the water ...one photo worthy fish (Raven. Our Elkhound disagrees, she thought her fish were primo!)

Lost a few kaburas on Wednesday so only had one down today and switched my lighter rod to a Kaveman Tackle micro hornet. All four species were caught on the micro including a rather prolonged battle of wills with a rather determined trev who had me tempted to tighten my drag up a notch ...I did not succumb to temptation however and eventually got him on board - the catch of the day for me by a country mile.

Its been such a tough season so far - the weather breaks have been few and far between and just not aligned with me being able to skive off and the fishing itself has been pretty tough- hopefully autumn will change that.

55kg load , same as the larger wheels ...I tell ya these wheels are awesome. $100 for a pair delivered. I already had the frame so it was just a matter of ensuring that I chose the right diameter for the axle.

New wheels for my trolley have arrived, am stoked with them, slightly smaller version of the same balloon wheels I had ...and I got a late Christmas present of a side loader so next trip out I will be attempting to load hull side up on my own. Now I just need a break in the weather.

Meantime, off for a surfcast tomorrow because the weather is meant to be crap. Not so good at catching a feed yet but it took me a fair while to catch fish on the kayak too ...and I do like a good challenge.

I do wish the weather would hurry and settle though
