The Auckland Bowling Club Champion of Champions Junior Singles Champs was played over the weekend. There were 68 entries in this national event.
Our own Jack Stewart played day one at Bridgepark Bowling Club, Mangere winning all 3 games putting him in the top 16 for day 2.
He won his first game 21-19 but narrowly lost his next game 19-21.
A great effort by Jack to finish 4th equal in this national event.

The ladies Under 5 year singles and pairs finals were played today.

Congratulations to Vanessa Thomas šŸ„‡in taking out the singles title and to Prue White🄈as runner up.

In the pairs the championship went to Dorothy Herring and Heather DavisonšŸ„‡šŸ„‡

May 2. Mixed Pairs Championships. A full rink with 16 own teams competing .Format was 2x4x2.
4 games of 10 ends.
It was a competitive championship played under sunny skies with a high quality of bowls displayed.
After 4 games it's congratulations to the only 4 game winning team of Terry James and Heather Davison.
Runners up were Bryan Scott and Jilly Stewart with 3 wins and a draw.

May 3. Ladies under 5 singles championship was played. Going into the final throes of the championship Prue White had 2 lives and Vanessa Thomas had one life.
Vanessa won the first game so it now comes down to a one game shoot out between Prue and Vanessa to decide the title winner.
This match will be played at a later date.

April 29 club day.
42 players attended enabling 14 triples teams to play 3 bowl triples.
The first 2 games were played over 10 ends and the afternoons 2 games over 8 ends.
Sponsors were Craigs Investments, Comag and King Electrical.
This was caused by these 3 sponsored closed club days being cancelled due to the weather conditions.
Subsequently good prize money was paid to all 14 competing teams according to position.
Top 3 teams:
Steve Hannay, Heather Davison and Jill Bollan - 4 wins
Bert Hughes, Jim Po***ck and CJ - 3 wins, 23 ends
Peter Browne, Jilly Stewart and Charlie Bougher - 3 wins 21 ends.
It was a great day with good bowls played in sunny conditions

The Waikato Centre Women's Triples Final was played on Tuesday April 14 having been rescheduled from November. Congratulations to the Rewa team of Marie Tappin, Helen Barlow and Dorothy Herring who prevailed over Pirongia 16-13 to become Centre Champions. The Rewa Bowling Club is extremely proud of their efforts.šŸ†šŸŽ‰šŸ‘

The Matamata Club is holding an OPEN DAY on Sunday April 12 (1 p.m to 4 p.m) to promote the club.
Put the word out to family, friends, neighbours, work colleagues to visit this family friendly venue that offers:
- A 60 seat restaurant.
- Function rooms.
- Free pool and billiard tables.
- Live sport on the big screen.
- Gaming room.
- Members draws.
- Raffles and more...
There will be:
- A happy hour ( 2 p.m to 3 p.m) FREE sausage sizzle.
- Chocolate egg hunt and FREE ice-creams for the kids.
- FREE Fire Truck rides.
For those attending the Open Day NEW members can obtain an annual membership of ONLY $40.

In conjunction with the Open Day, Rewa Bowling Club Matamata INC will be opening the green to promote our club and the game of outdoor bowls on a grass green.
Bowling Club members will be on hand to provide ready assistance for anyone (of all ages) who wishes to take the opportunity to test their skills on the bowling green.
