Kia Ora NZ!

Today I had the honour of returning to in Natal to train with old Jiu-Jitsu friends and, of course, with my professor, .

What an amazing feeling to be back, but also, what a hard training session! I had forgotten how intense the heat in this city can be and how much it affects our performance on the mats. Even so, being surrounded by great friends, sharing laughs, stories, and good rolls made it all worth it.

Moments like these remind us that Jiu-Jitsu is not only about technique and competition, but also about the friendships and connections we build throughout our journey.

I’ll definitely be back here a few more times during my stay in Brazil. Thanks GBRN for the warm reception.

Kia Ora NZ!

Today we celebrate victories, medals, growth, and another incredible achievement for our team. Seeing WĀHIBJJ taking 1st place as the best academy in Feilding Open makes us extremely proud of every student, parent, coach, and supporter who is part of this journey.

But Jiu-Jitsu always teaches us something greater than standing on the podium. In victory, we learn gratitude and humility. In defeat, we often find the greatest opportunities for growth, maturity, and self-improvement. Many times, losses are what shape us into stronger people, mentally, emotionally, and technically.

Every athlete who stepped into that arena overcame something within themselves: fear, anxiety, doubt, or insecurity. And that is worth far more than any medal.

Let us never forget that competition in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is only one of the many benefits of this incredible martial art. The true value of Jiu-Jitsu is found in the discipline built daily, the confidence developed through the journey, the friendships created, the respect learned, and the person we become both on and off the mats.

Congratulations to all our athletes, families, and supporters. Thank you for representing our team with courage, respect, and true sportsmanship.

On the 2nd of May 2026, was a very special day at WĀHIBJJ. Sean and Tamati were officially promoted to the rank of Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by Professor 3rd Degree Black Belt and Professor .br.nz 4th Degree Black Belt.

To honor this moment, the students shared a powerful Haka, a symbol of respect, strength, unity, and warrior spirit here in Aotearoa. It was more than a performance… it was a tribute to their journey.

This achievement is not just about skill, it’s about character, resilience, and commitment.

A black belt is not the end. It’s a responsibility:
To lead.
To inspire.
To continue growing and helping others grow along the way.

My dear friends .sean and this belt reflects the men you have become through the journey.
