Dunsandel Bowling Club - DBC

Last Sunday we had our sponsors day tournament.
Where all our Platinum, Gold and Silver sponsors got invited to the club where we opened the bar up, put on a feed and each sponsor participated with a team of 3 to compete for the sponsors day trophy.

It was a very close finish with 4 teams 2nd equal with 2/3 wins each. Having to go to points differential count back. In 4th place was Ellesmere Transport, 3rd place John Baily-Bayleys Real Estate, 2nd place Crate & Barrel Leeston and this years winners of the 2026 sponsors day tournament team TK Plastering the only team undefeated on the day with 3/3 wins.

Some weekend for the club. We had colts and the men’s open champion of champions, hosted by Leeston.
Dunsandel had Conan Griffin competing in the colts and Adam Stone in the men’s open.

Both Conan and Adam went through the day undefeated with Conan winning his final against Bill Healy from Diamond Harbour 21-13 to claim the colts champion.

Adam also went on to win his final against Peter Udy from Tai Tapu 21-10 to claim the men’s open, this also ending a 33 year drought since Dunsandel has won the men’s open champions of champions singles title, first time since J.L.Griffiths won it in 1993.

This great achievement over weekend sees Dunsandel for the first time in club history win all 3 singles champion of champions titles in the same year with Evan Seymour winning the junior title earlier in February.

Congratulations Conan, Evan and Adam. Outstanding achievement and something the club is very proud of. 🏆

That’s a wrap for our Friday night social bowls and what a cracker of a night for finals. We had Turf Titans v Concurds in 1 semi final with Concurds sneaking in 7-5.
Our other semi final had top of the table Beat the Head vs Wayne King. With it being tied 8-8 at full time we had to play an extra end with a 1 bowl shoot out, Wayne king got the winning shot to book themselves in the final.
The final Concurds ran out an early lead getting up 6-0 after 2 ends. Wayne King fought back but fell short with Concurds wining the final 10-6.
Congratulations team Concurds 2026 social bowls champions 🏆 some turn around from 2025 season where they had finished 13th.

The club would like to thank all teams and the community for participating and enjoying the game of bowls in such great spirit, making it such an enjoyable event.
Massive shout out to Ellesmere Butchery for supplying the meat raffles all season, your support for this is much appreciated.

FINALS NIGHT. 6 weeks of Friday night bowls has come down to this. Every team is playing off for a spot.

After last weeks results at social bowls we’ve had a big shift around in the top 4. Beat the head still firmly hold onto top spot with Concurds, Plan B, and purple work shirts have all dropped out. Turf Titans, bowls of steel are in with the biggest jump coming from It burns when we bowl with there 2 big wins leaping them from 8th to 3rd.
Tonight will be the last round robin of Social Bowls, with finals on the following week. There’s still 12 teams in the hunt for a top 4 spot. Tonight’s results are going to be crucial 🔥.

Round 6 Friday night lights 🔥

Round 5 of Social Bowls will be on tonight with the forecast possible showers mid arvo it is saying it will clear by 6, we will let you know by 5 if it would be canceled, if you haven’t heard anything bowls is ON. With only 2 rounds to go then finals day 27th March there’s still 14 teams in the hunt for that top 8 finish 🔥.

Last week we had top of the table Concurds drop to 2nd for the first time with Beat the Head now holding 1st. Plan B went 2/2 to climb there way back into the top 4 and Purple Work Shirts played there trump card calling up the Mayor of Selwyn Lydia Gliddon where they also went 2/2 to sneak themselves into the top 4 for the first time. With plenty of teams not far behind tonight’s round could change everything.
