The complex design is innovative and unique to Malta and its roof covers one of the largest spans. Situated in the South of Malta, the Cottonera Sports Complex is the largest indoor sports facility in Malta. Its’ design is innovative and unique to Malta and its’ roof covers one of the largest spans. This facility has a multi-purpose hall with 3 satellite areas. The Main Hall has a rubber surface with place for 3 Volleyball Courts, 6 Badminton Courts, and 1 Futsal/Handball International Court, with a seating capacity of 1,200 spectators and a generously sized press area. The Cottonera Complex boasts airconditioned meeting areas which are regularly utilized by sports organizations for committee and annual general meetings. The Complex also hosts a Weightlifting Center, a Dance Studio and a Fitness Centre. Moreover, SportMalta Headquarters are also found within this Complex. A new addition to this Sports Complex, is an indoor Olympic size pool featuring state-of-the-art technology, offering a range of amenities, including multiple dressing rooms for both athletes and officials, dedicated office spaces, advanced control rooms, spectator stands, and restroom facilities. The pool, designed to meet all the requirements of World Aquatics, is equipped with heating systems for the water and features air conditioning. This ensures optimal conditions for training and competitions for swimming, waterpolo and artistic swimming. The swimming pool is equipped with a specific deep area for artistic swimming and a moveable floor to accommodate shallow water teaching. Presently, and in order to ensure a comfortable set up for end users, the pool is being utilized by SportMalta Programmes, the Aquatic Sports Association including its affiliated Clubs and Schools. This period will ensure a smooth transition for the second phase and third phase intake of users. Any announcements on membership and other pool activities including days, times and pricing will be announced at a later stage. The Complex is also used as a venue for international activities by major local sports Federations and Associations as well as for various SportMalta activities, including Programme, SummerOnTheMove Programme, European Week of Sport Events, Schools’ Programme and Sports Days. The Cottonera Sports Complex is an ideal hub for training camps related to aquatic sports and not only.
