GUARDIAN OF THE GLEN
Long before the roar of the stag echoes through the valleys, the hind watches silently from the cover of the forest.
Alert to every movement, every sound, and every change in the wind, the female sika is one of the true guardians of Ireland’s wild places. While the stag may command attention during the rut, it is the hind that quietly carries the future of the herd.
Raising her calves among the forests, glens, and mountains of Wicklow, she knows every hidden trail and sheltered hollow. Elusive and intelligent, she is often seen only for a moment before melting back into the landscape.
For generations, these remarkable animals have been part of the story of Ireland’s wild countryside, a reminder that the greatest experiences in the field are not always measured in trophies, but in moments of connection with the natural world.
