Major congratulations to our U18 junior Josh Kelly who has been selected for the Irish sculling team that will compete at the flatwater Home International Regatta in London on July 25th. He will be rowing alongside Luca McGrath, a past member, who has continued rowing in Lee RC.

As well as this, Henrikas Janisionis, another past member rowing with Lee, has been provisionally selected to row in the Junior Men coxless four competing in the U19 World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria from the 6th to the 9th August.

These three have worked incredibly hard over the years and it's abundantly clear that it has paid off massively! We wish them all the very best of luck in these events and their future endeavours. πŸ’šπŸ€β€οΈπŸ–€

Ballycotton Regatta Pt. 1

Its safe to say that summer has arrived after the scorcher of a Ballycotton regatta last Sunday!

With the second championship regatta under our belts, our rowers raced well despite the heat and had a great day out. (Even if we got a little sunburnt!)

Many thanks to Ballycotton rowing club for a wonderful regatta in Aghada and a well deserved Club of the Day. πŸ’š

Beach Sprint Trial Update!

A fantastic Beach Sprint water trial took place last weekend in Castleconnell, with nearly 100 competitors taking part across two days of racing. The standard throughout the trial was extremely high, and the Selection Committee were hugely impressed by the level of competition, commitment and engagement shown by all athletes involved. πŸ‘

A huge thank you to Swift and ROWfit for supplying boats for the trial and for their continued support of the Beach Sprint trial process.

As we move into the next phase, difficult decisions have been made regarding progression. For the list of athletes selected to advance to the next trial is attached to this post visit https://www.rowingireland.ie/beach-sprint-trial-update/

Well done to Henrikas Janisionis who has been selected to represent Ireland in the European Junior Championships later this month. This is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication.

Henri joined Passage in 2021 at U12s and went on to win national medals at U14 and U16 level along with many medals indoors while breaking indoor records and continues his success at Lee Rowing Club.

We wish Henri the very best in Germany! πŸ’šπŸ€

Huge congratulations to four of our junior rowers who took on the Irish Beach Sprints trials in Castleconnell today! πŸŒŠπŸš£β€β™€οΈ

This marked the first on-the-water trials following three rounds of erg testing since December, and our athletes rose to the challenge with fantastic determination.

It was a debut experience for our J16 athletes Eva, Aaron, and Isabel competing in a highly competitive J18 category, while Josh’s experience really shone through having competed with the Irish Junior team in the Coupe de la Jeunesse last year.

A brilliant effort all aroundβ€”well done team!
