A little more flexibility at Haven 🍃🖤

From 31 August, with the start of our new term, we’re introducing our Flex Five Pass.

Designed for those who need a little more flexibility, the Flex Five gives you 5 individual classes to use over 2 months, for €125.

Importantly, the Flex Five does not replace our six-week blocks. Our six-week block remains our best value option at €130 and is the best way to build consistency, accountability and progression in your Pilates practice.

Flex Five and single classes are available only in spaces remaining after our six-week block bookings, so availability will be limited.

MORE RESISTANCE ≠ MORE RESULTS

One of the biggest misconceptions in Reformer Pilates is that a heavier spring automatically means a harder - or better - workout.

It doesn’t.

The right spring is the one that allows you to challenge the body while maintaining control, alignment and intention.

Too much resistance can actually make an exercise less effective. You may begin to:
• Lose control of the carriage
• Compensate through your shoulders, ribs,
hips or neck
• Lose your alignment
• Use momentum instead of muscular control
• Take the focus away from the muscles you’re actually trying to work

Sometimes, less spring creates more work.

A lighter spring can demand greater control, stability and precision because your body has to work harder to manage the movement.

And sometimes, a heavier spring is exactly what you need - particularly when you’re looking for support, stability or strength.

This is why the equipment matters.

At Haven, we use top-quality Balanced Body Allegro Reformers, giving our instructors precise, consistent spring resistance to work with.

And our instructors are Balanced Body trained, so they understand how each spring setting changes the exercise - and, importantly, how to choose the appropriate resistance for the person in front of them.

It isn’t about choosing the heaviest spring.

It’s about choosing the right resistance for your body, your level and the exercise you’re performing - so you can work effectively without unnecessary compensation.

Let’s talk about your pelvic floor. 🖤

Your body doesn’t move exactly the same way every day. And it shouldn’t have to.

Sleep, stress, training, hormones, energy levels and even how you’re feeling that morning can all influence how you move.

That’s why good Pilates isn’t about simply getting through a list of exercises.

It’s about paying attention.

Your instructor should be watching how you move, where you compensate, how you control the movement and when something needs to be adapted.
