Shield Semi‑Final – Walterstown vs St. Laurence’s (Kildare)

This was a test of heart and resilience. St. Laurence’s started strongly, but Walterstown refused to be rattled. They stayed patient, trusted their structure, and gradually worked their way back into the game.
The second half was all about grit. Walterstown defended bravely, turned over crucial ball, and took their chances at vital moments. With the game in the balance, they showed composure beyond their years to edge ahead and hold on for a famous one‑point win.

The final demanded everything Walterstown had left — and they delivered in style.
Trailing at halftime, the boys regrouped, reset, and produced a sensational second‑half display. Their work rate was immense, their tackling ferocious, and their accuracy exceptional. Walterstown hit eight unanswered points, showing maturity, belief, and total commitment to the team plan.
Every line of the pitch stood tall, and the leadership shown by the three captains was immense. When the final whistle blew, Walterstown were Shield Champions — a fully deserved reward for their effort and spirit.
