Dooks Golf Links Dooks is one of Ireland's oldest golf courses and one of Kerry's magnificent links courses. youtube.com/watch?v=FKoc_5…

In 1889 nine golf holes were laid out at Dooks by the Royal Ordinance Corps who had an artillery range in Glenbeigh at the time. In 1890 Dooks was one of just 12 Golf Courses in the entire island of Ireland. In 1895 the Great Southern Hotel Group took over Dooks for a few years and engaged Golf Architect, Anthony Brown, to bring the course up to a higher standard. A railway stop was opened in Dook

s in 1897, mainly to facilitate visiting golfers. In 1889 a further 9 holes were added making Dooks the first 18 hole golf course in Kerry. The additional 9 holes were abandoned two years later due to cost reasons. The Club was affiliated to the GUI in 1903 and to the ILGU ten years later in 1913. In 1921 Lady Edit Gordon was elected Captain - the first lady in Ireland to become a full Club Captain. In 1963 the Club faced it's biggest crisis when the land owners gave the Club notice to quit. However, an intensive national "Save Dooks Campaign" resulted in the purchase of Dooks for £7,000 - seven times it's annual income at the time. In 1970, following massive voluntary efforts of it's members, an additional nine holes were opened. In 2010 one of the major long term aspirations of the Club was realised with the full acquisition of the adjoining commonage natural links lands. This provides huge potential for future Club development. Over the years Dooks has come through many stages of development and the current Martin Hawtree designed course is now ranked in the top 30 courses in Ireland - not as high as we believe it deserves, but we are getting there. This year (2014) the Club is celebrating 125 years of golf and many special events are planned. This page is dedicated to memories of our 125 years and information, as it happens, on how we are celebrating our historical landmark year. If you have any photographs, memories, information, or stories please feel free to post them. Most importantly, please "like" this page and share it with your friends on Facebook.

Two holes-in-one. Just 15 hours apart. ⛳️🎉
Some things are simply meant to be celebrated.
A huge congratulations to Jesse McCormack, who aced the 11th hole, and Mark Bolger, who followed it up with an incredible hole-in-one on the 8th hole—just 15 hours later!
Two unforgettable moments, two fantastic shots, and memories that will last a lifetime.
Well played, gentlemen! 👏
