🖤💛 FROM THE RAPPAREES TO CROKE PARK – BEST OF LUCK JOE!

Everyone at Galway City Rapparees wishes founding member Joe Naughton the very best as he seeks election to represent GAA Rounders on the GAA Central Council.

When the Rapparees started back in 2021, we’re not sure any of us imagined what we were getting ourselves into!

Five years later, we’ve gone from a handful of players to five teams, with all five reaching All-Ireland semi-finals in 2026, three making finals and two bringing home All-Ireland titles.

In fact, we have nearly twice as many All-Star nominations in 2026 as we had players in the entire club when we started in 2021! Not bad for five years’ work! 😂

But anyone who knows Joe knows how passionate he is about growing Rounders. For him, it’s never just been about winning trophies. It’s about getting more people playing, building clubs and giving everyone an opportunity to be part of something special.

That said, he absolutely hates losing, so the trophies do help! 😂🏆

Having previously served as National Communications Officer, Joe now hopes to bring that same energy and ambition to Croke Park, pushing for greater funding, staffing, recognition and a stronger voice for clubs across Ireland.

If Joe can help grow Rounders nationally the way he’s helped grow the Rapparees, then our sport has a very exciting future.

We’ve seen first-hand the work he puts in behind the scenes, and we couldn’t ask for a stronger champion for Rounders at Central Council.

👏 We’re also delighted to see our own Craig Davis continuing as National Children’s Officer. Craig has made a huge contribution to Rounders nationally, and it’s fantastic to see him continuing in such an important role.

It’s great to see Rapparees members continuing to play their part in shaping the future of our sport, both on and off the field.

🖤💛 Best of luck, Joe, and congratulations to Craig! Just don’t forget about us when you’re up in Croke Park! 😂

Connacht Cup 2026 ✅🖤💛

What a brilliant day of rounders at the Connacht Cup in Liam Mellows GAA Club!

It was fantastic to be able to enter two Galway City Rapparees teams, GCR Black & Yellow and GCR Pink Pony Club, and even better to see both sides play so competitively throughout the day.

Both teams made it all the way to the Shield final, with Black & Yellow coming out on top. Captained by Jessie Pereira. It’s not often you get to see two teams from the same club face each other in a final, and it was a proud moment for everyone involved! 🏆

A huge well done to all our players for the effort, teamwork and encouragement throughout the day. The Connacht Cup is always a great opportunity to try out different combinations, welcome newer players and enjoy a day of rounders with clubs from across the province.

A big thank you to Martin, Mark & Shirley and Connacht GAA Rounders, for organising the competition, to Liam Mellows GAA Club for hosting, and to all the referees who helped make the day possible. 👏

Congratulations to Erne Eagles and Athenry on their final wins, and a special well done to Clontuskert on taking part in their first competitive competition. It’s brilliant to see a new club come so far in such a short time! 💚💛

A great day for Connacht rounders and a great day for the Rapparees! 🖤💛
