P***e Killiea: From Boston to Senior Championship Rounders
How a former softball player helped build Galway City Rapparees from a handful of friends in Laurel Park into one of Ireland’s largest Rounders clubs in just five years.

P***e Killiea reflects on Boston, Annaghdown, softball, Rounders, All-Ireland memories and the rise of Galway City Rapparees.

It’s interesting looking back at the profile the GAA did on our club three years ago.

Back in 2023, we had 21 members and two teams. Since then, the club has grown massively — now with over 60 members, five teams, and having moved grounds to accommodate the growth.

A huge thank you to all our sponsors for their continued support along the way.

By Cian O’Connell These are exciting times for Galway City Rapparrees. The emerging rounders club in the west provide an encouraging example about what can be achieved. 🟡⚫ What a day out in Cavan! ☀️

Our Intermediate Mixed team got their season underway against St. Clare’s yesterday afternoon, winning 26-2. A strong start, and great to be back on the pitch together.

The Intermediate Women followed up with a 20-5 win to round off the day. Two really positive performances from both squads.

Huge thanks to St. Clare’s for two great matches and for hosting!

🟡⚫ Match day! Two Rapparees sides are travelling to Cavan today and we can’t wait to see them in action.

First up at 1pm, our intermediate mixed team take on St. Clare’s — two former Junior All-Ireland Champions going head to head for the first time this season.

Then at 3pm, our intermediate women close out the day against St Clare’s - and this one is shaping up to be a serious contest. 💪

Let’s go Rapps!

Huge congratulations to Cathal Creaven and Hazel Kilduff on their selection for the Irish squad, and to Katie Jessop on making the GB squad, for the upcoming European Coed Softball Championships in London from July 13th–19th 🇮🇪🇬🇧🥎

Wishing Cathal, Hazel and Katie the very best of luck for the tournament. Hopefully we’ll have a few Rapparees making the trip over to London to support them as well 🖤💛
