Our captain for 2026 Caimin Dillon kicked off the singles season in the best way possible yesterday with a victory in Ballykisteen, he had 2 points to spare over Andy Turner in second place who just held off Mark Hanrahan on a count back on the back 9.
Keith Lenihan won the front 9 and Owen O Donnell taking the back 9 prize. Nearest to pin was won by Mike Liddy with Paudie O Connell winning the longest drive.
We had 22 golfers teeing off and already looking forward to our next outing in another maiden course for us, Cregmore on April 25th.

Following on from last month's opening outing of 2026 in Athenry, a four man scramble won by Robert McGreal, Gerry Hanrahan, Fergal Meere and Niall McMahon, we hit to Ballykisteen Golf Club for the first time tomorrow for our opening singles outing of the year.
Tomorrow also marks the start of our inaugural player of the year, best of luck to all playing.

Congrats to Owen O Donnell on a very successful captains day yesterday. Newcastlewest golf course was in great condition, we had 39 golfers teeing up and the weather stayed dry allowing for some high scoring. Well done to prize winners David Quinn (longest drive) Andy Turner (nearest to pin) Liam Browne (front 9) and Joe Mullins (back 9). Sean McCarthy took home 3rd prize in the main comp just behind Mike Liddy in 2nd but bringing home the silverware and deserved champion golfer for next 12 months was our resident Dub Mick Horgan. Owen also announced next year's captain Caimin Dillon and we are looking forward already to his big day next year. Our next outing will take place in Shannon golf club next month.

This Saturday we have our third outing of the year in Athlone Golf Club, format will be singles and the last time the society was here Andy Turner was the winner so looking forward to see can he be victorious again.

The society had a great outing yesterday in Galway Bay Golf Club, the weather Gods once again looked after us with lovely sunshine and blue skies. 24 golfers played and we had one of our most popular winners in Tom Meaney. Well done to all winners and we will see you all in Athlone next month.

We had our first outing of 2025 in East Clare golf club last Saturday. We had a great turnout of 24 golfers. As normal our first outing of the year was a scramble, well done to Sean, Kieran and Liam on the win. Our next outing will take place in Galway Bay on March 15th with the first tee time at 10am and the format will be singles.

Best of luck to our Captain Padraig Woods on his Captains outing tomorrow in Dromoland. Hopefully the rain stays away and a good days golf is had by all. Big thanks to Clarkes shop for sponsoring the goody bags for tomorrow. Presentation of prizes and BBQ will take place in Fogartys Bar from 8 tomorrow evening. Last years Captain Mick Horgan will finally get to present his prizes. Green Fees are €40 and can be paid to myself and Mikey in Dromoland,swing easy and enjoy the day.
