On a bright but blustery morning, the Dungarvan Waterpark U16 Girls took took to the road and headed west. The destination? Limerick. To take on Old Crescent in the Munster League.
The girls faced a significant challenge right from the start, with the Crescent girls testing our defence with strong carries and good passing. And while they built a lead, they never got out of sight.
Our girls showed huge spirit and no little skill to keep in touch with some strong caaries of our own coupled with some savage tackling.
When the conditions swung somewhat in our favour following the halftime turn around we started to build a bit of momentum and the girls worked their way back to within a couple of points. A late rally from the hosts saw them pull away in the end but the performance from the girls is one to be proud of.
Huge thanks to Old Crescent for being such gracious hosts and to ref who guided both teams through what was an excellent match.
