πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Another busy week of racing and training for Tried & Tested!

Seven club members headed to Dunmore East for the ever-popular Hook or by Crook Triathlon. Despite the stunning sunshine, the challenging course delivered plenty of tough racing with a beach-to-beach sea swim, rolling bike course and hilly run keeping everyone honest.

A special congratulations to Justin Ryan who powered his way to an incredible 3rd place overall, while Johnny Lynch (1st AG), Una Fennelly (3rd AG) and Alice Fitzgerald (3rd AG) all earned age group podium finishes. Well done also to Oliver Kelly, TomΓ‘s Mahony and Ray Harty on great performances.

Back closer to home, club members tackled our first Mauma Time Trial of the summer series. The 4.4km climb, combined with a strong headwind, provided a serious test of strength and endurance, with spectacular coastal views rewarding the effort at the top.

The racing and training momentum continues this week with our Wednesday evening brick session. Great work from everyone involved! πŸ’™πŸ’›

πŸŠπŸš΄πŸƒ The racing didn’t stop at Hamburg and Sardinia! Back on home soil and across Ireland, Tried and Tested athletes were busy flying the club colours in challenging conditions.

At the third round of the Triathlon Ireland National Series in Schull, Toby Bedell and Alice Fitzgerald faced a particularly tricky bike course. Toby continued his impressive National Series form with a top-20 overall finish and second place in his age group, while Alice put in a strong performance to finish fourth in her age group.

Meanwhile at the Brian Boru Triathlon in Killaloe, Kate Dwane, Oliver Kelly and Linda Bradfield took on the sprint distance, while Lesley Caldwell completed the Try-a-Tri event.

Further east, Andree Heslin tackled the Wicklow 100, taking on the famous Sally Gap and Wicklow Gap in typically wild and windy Wicklow conditions.

πŸ‘ Congratulations to all our athletes who raced, challenged themselves and represented the club so brilliantly.

➑️ Club Chairman Ray Harty recently completed Ironman 70.3 Venice and shared his experience on what is regarded as one of the fastest and flattest 70.3 courses in Europe. After months of dedicated training, a swim PB, a bike PB and a hard-fought battle with the Italian heat on the run, Ray crossed the line with a smile, a medal and perhaps the familiar feeling that another race might already be calling.

The season is well underway, and there’s plenty more racing still to come! πŸ”₯

πŸŒπŸŠπŸš΄πŸƒ What a weekend of racing for Tried and Tested athletes! There was so much action, so many incredible performances and stories to tell that we’ve had to split it into two separate posts. First up, Ironman Hamburg where six Tried and Tested athletes took on the legendary full-distance challenge.

Connor Hennebry, Ronan Wall, Billy Ryan, Martin Lavan, Gary Hurney and Stephen Gray lined up at Ironman Hamburg on Sunday to take on the legendary full-distance challenge. With wind, rain, humidity and chilly temperatures throughout the day, the conditions were far from easy, and hundreds of athletes were affected by punctures caused by debris on the bike course, including Stephen!
Despite the challenges, all delivered outstanding performances, showing incredible determination from start to finish.
Special mention to Conor, Billy and Ronan, who all broke the 10-hour barrier with superb times of 9:21, 9:54 and 9:56 respectively.

β˜€οΈ Meanwhile in Sardinia, Natalie Shaw Hamilton, Rob Shaw Hamilton, Thomas Shaw Hamilton and Lara Thompson took on Ironman 70.3 Alghero. In temperatures nudging 30Β°C by the half marathon, they battled the heat brilliantly, with Thomas producing a fantastic performance to finish well under the 5-hour mark.

From Hamburg to Sardinia, it was a weekend packed with courage, commitment and outstanding racing and we can’t wait to share the full race reports once everyone has had a chance to recover.

Massive weekend of racing for Tried & Tested πŸ’₯

Five club athletes made the early trip to TriAthy on Saturday to take on one of Ireland’s biggest multisport events, with over 2,500 athletes racing across the TA100, Olympic, Sprint and Try-a-Tri distances.

From the River Barrow swim to the rolling bike course and tough riverside run, conditions were ideal for a fantastic day of racing. Huge well done to James Fitzgerald and Barry Morrissey in the TA100, Lesley Caldwell in the Try-a-Tri, Oliver Kelly in the Sprint distance and Andree Heslin in the Olympic race πŸ‘

A special mention also to Kate Dwane, who took part in the incredible Row for Solas fundraiser over the weekend. Kate was part of a relay team that rowed a full marathon distance to help raise over €50,000 for the Solas Cancer Support Centre β€” an amazing achievement ❀️

Congratulations also to Anne, who completed the Cork City Half Marathon alongside her sister in a brilliant time of 1:48:18. A fantastic performance and a lovely way to share the experience together πŸ…

Well done to everyone who raced, rowed and represented the club so proudly this weekend πŸ’™

Niall crossed the line in an incredible 14:15:54, showing serious grit and determination across a brutal course of swim, bike and marathon

A massive achievement and one the whole club is hugely proud of. Recover well Niall β€” you earned it! πŸ’ͺπŸŠπŸš΄πŸƒ

πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Busy weekend for Tried and Tested!

Seven athletes took on Round 1 of the 2026 Triathlon National Series in Clonmel today. After braving the chilly River Suir for the 750m swim, athletes tackled a tough and windy 20km bike before finishing strong with a fast 5km run along the Suir Blueway. Sunshine, great support and sausage rolls at the finish made it all worthwhile β˜€οΈπŸ‘

Huge well done to Padraig Healy, Barry Morrissey, Brigid Coffey, David McNally, Justin Ryan, Linda Bradfield and Oliver Kelly who all represented the club brilliantly.

Special congratulations to Justin Ryan on an incredible 9th overall and 3rd in his age group πŸ‘ There were also top 10 age group finishes for Padraig and Brigid, plus a top 5 age group performance from Barry πŸ’ͺ

The action didn’t stop there β€” just 24 hours earlier Oliver Kelly and Lesley Caldwell took on the scenic Killarney 10km, while our cyclists clocked up 80km+ and over 1,000m elevation on a challenging route through Powers the Pot and Rathgormac πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈβ›°οΈ

A fantastic weekend of racing, training and representing the club! πŸ”₯

Two Tried and Tested athletes headed overseas to race in the sell-out Ironman 70.3 Venice Jesolo triathlon.

Club chairman Ray Harty and AndrΓ©e Heslin were among more than 2000 people who took on the 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run along the Adriatic coast.

This race had it all: calm seas, light winds, mild temperatures (by European standards anyway...), a flat bike and run course and plenty of spectator support. Easy access to Italian food for pre-race carb loading/recovery was an additional perk.

Well done Ray and AndrΓ©e!

We also had club member Niall Connaughton running Dublin City HM in a superb time of 1h32 as part of his long run ahead of IM Lanzarote!

Lesley & Colin racing yet again at the Limerick 10k this Sunday too πŸ‘

Brilliant efforts from everyone - Well done Team πŸ™Œ
