In February 2012, the UCD Judo Club was set up by four judo enthusiasts: Anton Katayev; Rebecca Dwyer; Corey Preclaw; Kate O’Donoghue. In November 2012, after numerous applications to affiliate with the UCD Athletic Union Council, the Club was allowed to be incorporated with UCD as one of its many fully established Sports Clubs. In December 2012, the Club Committee was joined by: Jennifer Murphy;
Philip Michalski; Jack Walsh; Coiré Mc Crystall. In January 2013, the Club started training at UCD Sports Halls and has recruited many members at the UCD Refreshers Day. The Club membership is open to:
• UCD students who are registered and in attendance at a course for degrees or diplomas (15 Euro/year)
• Recent UCD graduates as approved by the Athletic Union Council (20 Euro/year)
• UCD students recommended by the AUC, who though not registered in a particular session, are continuing a course of study for a degree or diploma (20 Euro/year)
• Staff members of UCD (20 Euro/year)
