The very first Sepak Takraw club formed in Ireland, UCD Sepak Takraw Club initially introduced in 2014 as an attempt to promote the sport at the university and throughout Ireland. Sepak Takraw, or otherwise known as "kick volleyball" is a unexpected cross between volleyball, football and hacky sack. It is a very popular game in South-east Asia where its birthright is still fiercely contested betwe
en many countries within the region for the past century. Now it has gained a huge following in Europe and America apart from the fact that it is a mainstay in the Asian games. UCD STC, the brainchild of a couple of enthusiastic Malaysian students is aimed to promote the sports in Ireland and have some fun while at it. We welcome players from all different backgrounds and experiences and provide the stage to showcase your talents. The game will develop your skills, flexibility, pace and agility whilst strenghtening you mentally. In the end of the day, we will prepare you to become one of the most skilled and committed players to form a team able to face other universities around Ireland and the UK as well. Other than that, you also get to learn some cool sepak takraw slangs. Sometime this year, we will also organise a couple of night outs to bring the players closer together.
