Lets talk rest recovery and mobility!
And no i dont mean being able to get your legs over your head ๐Ÿคฃ

So u train hard? Lift heavy? Gym everyday? Classes everyday? But are you seeing results?

Burning the candle at both ends by training hard and not fueling or resting enough actually eats into that muscle your trying to create or it will make your body hang onto the fat your trying to burn ๐Ÿ”ฅ!

๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿ›Feeling sore after workouts can be a sign that you tried something new or pushed yourself harder than usual but it can also mean your body needs more time to recover and maybe your sleep quality is poor there is many reasons for this caffine intake, screen time, stress, perimenopause the list goes on! Its time to take a look at your daily and nightly routine and narrow it down to find out why and work on it!

๐Ÿซ’๐Ÿฅ™The nutrition side of health and fitness is just as (if not more) important than working out! Fueling your body with enough of the right food for your workouts will help you to grow and recover quickly, start small and just try and reach your protein goal everyday, 2gs of protein per kg bodyweight, when that becomes a habit watch your carb intake eat more on training days less carbs on rest days try and eat a rainbow of fruits and veg! Cut out highly proccessed foods from your daily diet. Then your on the right track!

๐ŸฆตFinally lets talk mobility! When we lift heavy or run hard our muscles tighten up and shorten, causing sometimes painful stiff tight muscles, practicing mobility on rest days will help you to keep your flexibility and range of motion this helps to prevent injury by loosening up the muscles, tendons and ligaments thus protecting our joints! Maintaining mobility into our golden years is key in being able to live independently and maintain a good quality of life!
Practicing mobility frequently will only take 15/20 mins per day! Treat it like you would a muscle group!

Take care of yourself! Building strength can take time and a lot more factors can affect the process not just how much you lift! ๐Ÿ˜˜

What a fantastic turnout we had for with our beginner runners going from run walking 2km to running full 5 kms without stopping in just 5 weeks! They clocked up serious kms in that timeframe!

Our seasoned runners smashing their best average pace times and getting faster and faster each week!

Theres a lot to be said for a little competition! It helped to push our runners to push themselves and it is just astonishing to see the progress made! Well done everyone! Until next time!

Now run club is over.. what other challenges could we set together? Pull ups? Deadlifts? ๐Ÿ˜œ

๐Ÿ’ก Meet Viktoria๐Ÿ‘‘ a regualr here in catalyst, local to carrigaline, twenty something single mother of 1! We caught up with her for a chat and a giggle and she is certainly a giggler๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

1. What is a personal best you are most proud of?
Iโ€™m most proud of my consistency. Hitting personal records is great, but showing up week after week even on the tough days has been the biggest win for me.โฐ๏ธ

2. โ How long have you been wth Catalyst?
Iโ€™ve been a member for about a year, and itโ€™s become a solid part of my weekly routine.๐Ÿค

3. What do you like most about our gym community?
The atmosphere. Everyone is friendly and supportive! It feels like a place where you can really be yourself and not be judged ๐Ÿ™.

4. What is your weekly training schedule like?
I train 5 times a week. Even as a full time mom. Itโ€™s all about discipline at the end of the day. And I lift weights and do cardio. ๐Ÿ’ช

5. โ What drives you to keep training when you dont feel motivated?
I focus on how good I feel afterwards. Training clears my head, boosts my confidence, and even on the toughest days I remind myself that even if I just get a little bit done, thatโ€™s already good enough.

6. โ What are you main goals for the next 6 months?
Keep building strength and improve my overall conditioning. I want to feel fitter, stronger, and more confident in my lifts!

7. โ What is a gym myth you'd like to bust?
That you need to be fit before joining. The gym is where you get fit, everyone starts somewhere, and nobody is judging you!

8. Give us a fun fact about you!
I speak 3 languages! English, Spanish and Russian

Meet Aparnesh a 30 something hospital care assistant, father of two and fitness lover (and all round sound guy!)๐Ÿ‘

We caught up with him to get to know him a bit better and ask him about his fitness journey heres how it went โฌ‡๏ธโฌ‡๏ธโฌ‡๏ธ

How long have you been training in catalyst?

"Iโ€™ve been training since August, 2025 after a long gap of 3 years."

How do you stay disciplined?

"I try my best to stay disciplined. With a busy life of being a father of two daughters and full time job, it is tough to manage. And some weekend fun ๐Ÿป is fine I guess."

How do you stay consistent with work family and gym?
"I guess just stay focused with what you are doing. Have a goal in your head and stay on your path. Life is like a marathon so keep up the pace constant. And family is important so cherish every moment with them."

Is there anything you would change about your journey?
"I wish I could train more, eat better and get more rest for recovery."

What is your favourite equiptment at catalyst?
"It has to be Barbell ๐Ÿ˜ˆ"

What is your fav body part to work/ exercise?

"Nothing in particular, but I I love compound exercises. So squats, bench and shoulder press, deadlifts and pull ups."

What advice would you give someone starting off ๐Ÿค”

"Focus on basics, recover well, eat clean and stay natural, be consistent, thereโ€™s too much on social media so be aware and keep your goals realistic."

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself!

"Im also a chef ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ and I love to ride motorbikes ๐Ÿ "
