Everyone at Mogeely FC would like to wish the very best of luck to our players Aidan B, Ryan D, Ryan K & Eoin O'C, alongside John Brennan who is a member of the coaching team, who are representing WWEC Football League & the club, this week at the Kennedy Cup in Limerick.

This is a fantastic achievement and the reward for years of hard work, dedication, commitment, and countless hours spent training and playing the game they love. We are incredibly proud to see them wearing the WWEC colours while representing the club on one of the biggest stages in Irish schoolboy football.

The Kennedy Cup is a unique experience, giving players the opportunity to spend a week away from home with their teammates, create lifelong memories, and test themselves against some of the best young footballers from across the country.

Enjoy every minute of the experience, make the most of the opportunity, and represent yourselves, your families, your club, and WWEC with pride.

Mogeely FC U17s swap football boots for padel rackets in epic season send-off 🎾⚽

After a long season of tackles, training sessions, and match days, Mogeely FC's Under-17s signed off in style this weekend with a trip to the padel courts. Swapping football boots for rackets, the lads quickly discovered that competitiveness doesn't take a day off — no matter the sport.

Game on!

To keep things interesting, the squad was split into evenly matched pairs for a fast-paced round-robin tournament. With everyone guaranteed plenty of court time, the action was relentless from the very first serve.

The Group Stages

Fast rallies, great teamwork, and plenty of noise from the sidelines (mostly Kelly). Every point was contested like it was a cup final.

The Semi-Finals

The intensity cranked up another level, with some incredibly tight matches that were decided by quick reactions and nerves of steel.

The Final

A proper thriller. End-to-end action, brilliant rallies, and a contest that went right down to the final points.

The upset nobody saw coming...

While the lads showed serious talent and put up an unbelievable fight, the trophy ultimately ended up in the hands of two very familiar faces.

The coaches.

Usually found setting up cones, organising drills, and shouting instructions from the touchline, the management team rolled back the years to claim the title. It turns out that veteran guile, questionable sledging, and decades of sporting experience remain a dangerous combination.

Needless to say, the players won't be hearing the end of this victory anytime soon.

A brilliant way to finish the season

Results aside, the day was all about enjoying each other's company and celebrating a fantastic year together. The event wrapped up with a relaxed awards presentation, plenty of laughs, and a look back on another memorable season in the yellow and black.

A huge well done to every player for their commitment, effort, and attitude throughout the year. Enjoy the summer break, and stay safe. 🏆

As the curtain comes down on the WWEC Football League U14 season, we also bring to a close an incredible chapter in the coaching journey of John Brennan, who is stepping away (for now at least 😉) from coaching in Mogeely after 10 years of outstanding service to the club.

John's involvement began back in 2016 when he stepped in to help out coaching his oldest son Cian's team at U9 level. By 2018, he had taken charge of that group and remained with them right through to the end of their U18 journey last year. Along the way, he also stepped in to coach his son Eoin's team in 2020 and played a key role with the WWEC Kennedy Cup squad in 2024 which Eoin was part of. He had guided this current U14 team, his youngest son Aidan's team from their earliest years right up until his retirement once his involvement with the current WWEC Kennedy Cup squad is finished in 2 weeks time.

For almost a decade, John has given countless evenings, weekends and hours of his own time to help young players learn, improve and most importantly enjoy their football. While trophies, league titles and cup runs will always be remembered, John's greatest achievement has been the positive influence he has had on so many young people during some of the most important years of their lives.

A coach's role goes far beyond tactics and training sessions. John has been a mentor, role model, motivator and friend to so many players he has coached throughout his time with Mogeely FC. He has celebrated their successes, helped them through disappointments, built their confidence and encouraged them to become not only better footballers, but better young people.

The impact of volunteers like John can never truly be measured. The friendships formed, life lessons learned and memories created will remain long after the final whistle has blown.

While we're sure this won't be the last time we'll see John around a football pitch, his contribution to Mogeely FC over the past 10 years deserves special recognition and heartfelt thanks from everyone connected with the club.

John, thank you for your dedication, commitment, patience and passion. You have left a lasting legacy within Mogeely FC and have played a huge part in shaping the lives of so many young players.

We wish you, Sharon and all the family the very best for the future, and we hope you enjoy a well-earned break once your work with the WWEC Kennedy Cup squad is complete.

Congratulations to our U16s, who are the Division 5 Champions and were presented with their trophy today. 🏆

A fantastic achievement for the players and coaches after all their hard work throughout the season.

A big thank you to our U17s for providing the opposition for today's match and helping the team round off a memorable season in style.

Our U11 and U12 girls took part in a fantastic blitz in Ballybridge today, playing five great games against Ballybridge and Brideview.
There were some very tight matches with brilliant scores and fantastic goals throughout. Every single girl played her part — whether it was a sharp pass, a crucial block, a great save or a well-taken goal. The teamwork and effort on display were outstanding.
Well done to all the girls — you were absolutely brilliant! 👏💪

Well done to our U16s who came away with a brilliant 3-2 win over Avondale United A in a cracking game at Railway Park yesterday evening, with goals from Kelly, Ben W and Dillon. 👏⚽

While the league title may be out of their hands, they are still very much in contention, and the three points keep the pressure firmly on Coachford with four games still remaining.

The fixtures are coming thick and fast now as the league pushes to have all games completed before the end of the month.

The lads are back in action again tomorrow evening away to Ballincollig, before hosting Bandon on Tuesday. Best of luck to the squad and management for the games ahead! 💪
