Busy few week of t20 cricket for the club

Prem T20
The premier team had a great 34 run against . The big difference between the two sides was the legend that is Majid Khan who scored a wonderful century off 56 balls. This included an 111 run partnership with Murad (42) as we reached 177/3. The bowling unit then took care of matter to restrict Harlequins 134/7

Div2 T20
The div2 side under the tutelage of senior player Dean Wilson won a last ball thriller against 3s. Fayaz was the star of the show getting a 50 and taking 2 wickets. Other notable performances were Raja (30 runs), 2-14 and Muhammed Ali with 2-19. The win qualified them for finals day on June 14th.

Div4 T20
The lads came out with one win and one loss in two very tight games against and . In both games the lads showed real character exemplified by blazing a quickfire 27 to win us the game against the Vikings with a last ball 4! While in the 2nd game Dean and shared a 50 run 9th wicket partnership to give us a competitive total. Unfortunately, Clonmel chased it down in the last over.

Div5 T20
The lads unfortunately lost against cork county 5ths in their only game, despite a superb 70* from Happy. All was not lost though as the boys secured their spot to this Sunday's finals day in Midleton with this defeat. You could call it a MCU mystery!

Weekend 6 Review

A weekend of two halves; with two heavy defeats on Saturday for the 2s and 4s; and two wins on Sunday.

In the MCU prem, our 1s had a great 95 run win against Harlequins thanks to a fine all round performance by Shabir (95 & 3-17), who guided us from 148-7 to 235 allout to give us a defendable total. Other key preformers on the day were (27 & 2-35); (36) and (2-25). Andrew also get out by punching his stumps apparently!

In Div4, our 3s gave a good all round performance to beat by 4 wickets. Clonmel were 124-3 at one stage but a double wicket maiden from .patil.278 saw us get back on top to bowl them out for 171. , Srini and Naveen all got two wickets each.

Nitin (31) and Raja (27) then had an 80 run opening partnership that gave us a solid foundation for the chase. Thereafter, despite most of us getting starts we could not kick on, and it did get slightly nervy towards the end. Thankfully Arun (18) and managed to see us home!

All four adult sides out this week; which includes trips to Tipperary for the 3s and 4s; while the 1s and 2s are at home.

The best thing of all is they say the sun is supposed to be out so we should get four games in!

Best of luck to all four sides involved

Sunday Summary

MCU Prem - 1st team win by 11 runs

1st team got back to winning ways against in a high scoring thriller in Towns park, in which a 625 runs were scored.

Our 1st innings of 318/7 was built on an excellent 167 run opening partnership between Murad (96) and Awais (79). Shabir came in then and clobbered a 28 ball 56 in customary style. Going in at halftime, we definitely felt the more confident of the two sides.

In their reply, Limerick were behind the rate and were losing regular wickets thanks to , Javed and Shabir. However, a mid innings fightback saw limerick needing only 50 runs off their last five overs. Thankfully we managed to do the job with Robin taking two wickets in the final over to seal the deal!

Midleton 1st xi 318/7
Murad 96
Awais 79
Shabir 56
Majid 30

Limerick 1st xi 307 all out
Javed 3-58

MCU Div 4 - No result

The 3s travelled to on Sunday and were left frustrated by the rain. We bowled first and had nenagh all out for 161, which should have been much less given the number of chances we put down. Congrats to .patil.278 on his 5fer and on claiming two poles!

In our response we were well set on 71/2 before the rain came in for the evening. C'est la vie as they say! Next week it's supposedly going to be sunny 🙏
