It was with great shock and sadness that we learned on Saturday morning last of the untimely death, after a short but devastating illness, of our much loved friend and clubmate, Frank Hayes.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife Rose and his children Ronan and Emily at this heartbreaking time.
As a young man Frank had a successful underage career with Castlemartyr during the 70s and went on to play in the red jersey at adult level throughout the 80s and early 90s. It was towards the end of his career that he enjoyed one of his greatest days when he captained and accepted the cup on behalf of the successful Junior B football squad of 1993 in their win after a replay over Dungourney.
After retiring as a player he went on to help as a selector on various hurling teams before serving as an officer in his role as treasurer for many years during the 2000s.
Thank you Frank for all your service throughout the years. You certainly played your part.
May your kind gentle soul rest in peace
As a mark of respect Monday nights Junior hurling game v St. Catherine's has been postponed.
