U15 div Match report: U15 whites vs Killarney Athletic C
A glorious day in Killarney awaited us as we kicked off our first game of the season. We started off a bit rusty after a long off season and with not alot of training done, but we managed to get the ball forward between the Killarney defensive with Declan Cronin took it under control and slotted past the keeper 1-0 up after 10mins, we sustained a barrage of attack from athletic trying to level and they turned up the pressure eventually winning a penalty, 1-1 after 20 mins. Brave defending and a string of saves from Kaias in goal to keep it the game 1-1 at the break.
After a well deserved break the lads were keen to get back out there and put this game up to athletic side and in the first 10 mins Sean og O Shea struck the net for iveragh with a lovely ball down the wing by RB david, athletic went again and bundled the ball in after a scramble in the box 2-2. Iveragh stepped up again with some great passing through the midfield and Nathan Doyle scoring for Iveragh again! 3-2 some match we had on our hands, relentless pressure again from athletic and once again found a way through to make it 3-3! Both teams pushed hard for the last few minutes trying to find a winner. The match finished all square and a great point from our first away game this season against tough opponents. Big thanks to fellow coach James Doyle and to all the lads that turned up today with such a good attitude and fighting spirit.

A big shout out to Iveragh United players Cillian O Connor and Seamus Hallissey who have officially been selected in the Kerry F.C U,14 Academy.
They join the squad with there other Iveragh team mates.

All 4 had there first matches against Treaty United and Athlone saturday. Treaty beat Athlone in the first game. Kerry then lost 3-0 sgainst a big physical Athlone side. However Kerry responded in the final game against Treaty with a fantastic 4-2 win. 👍⚽️

Iveragh United U12 Girls came out 1.0 winners of our first Division 1 game of the season away to an excellent Kenmare team. Joni O’ Donoghue kept 2 very hard long range shots out with two excellent saves. Lauren Sullivan Alexandra Maguire shared right back duties and defended well and also created attacks down the wing. Aine Cronin was like watching a seasoned senior CB , she read the game well and did excellent tackles and great distribution . Her partner in CB Caoimhe O Shea moved into midfield and did both her defensive duties and set up attacks well.

Summer Hickey (Capt) and Maisie Donovan marshalled the midfield very well. Maisie was out match winner with very determined run through the middle, holding off some persistent tackles and finishing calmly with her left foot.

Left back Alley Shanahan can close to scoring 2 goals but for the excellent Kenmare keeper.
Up front was a tough job for the strikers today because the Kenmare girls were so good at defending.
Holly Hassel , Aléna Nassar , Millie.Fogarty and Grace Fitzgerald all worked hard to try to score and linked up well with the midfield. On the right wing Jenna Shanahan tried so hard to get through and score.

Great to start the season with 3 points we thank the ref Jordan and Caroline ,Betty and all the Kenmare coaching team for a great game.

Everyone at Iveragh United wishes our friends at Killarney Celtic all the best today as they make history and play their first game in the National League at 2pm.
Some of our under 16 players have taken the local link to support their teacher and their Schools Coach Matt Keane who led them to the All Ireland Schools final earlier this year.
Nothing like a Munster Derby to kick things off.
Best of luck for a home victory.

Man United have the Ferguson Statue. Liverpool have Shankly. Iveragh United had to follow suit with the retirement of our very very patient secretary Holly Kennedy.

The best in her well deserved retirement. You made a very difficult job look easy and if there was any fixture mistakes or forgetting to hire the pitch, find a set of Jerseys, it was always one of us coaches fault and somehow you found a way to save the day in nearly every occasion.

Thanks for all your help and support over the years.
You’ll be missed.

Saturday Morning at the South Kerry Sports Centre – Let’s Stand Together

We’re asking all coaches, parents and members to come along Saturday morning and stand united.

This is about one thing — our kids’ safety. The playing surfaces need urgent improvement to provide a safe environment for them to train and play.
