How cool is it to get the opportunity to sit in front of and ask an Ireland international and Olympian questions about playing rugby?

That’s exactly what our Give It A Try players got to experience last night by chatting with Eve Higgins.

We want to make sure that we give all our players the tools they need to enjoy and succeed in sport and we believe meeting those who play at the highest level as part of it.

We want our young players to hear for themselves what it’s like to play at the highest level and see that they can do it too.

A hugely enjoyable evening was had by all and there’s no doubt these players will remember this for years to come.

Our 2026 Give It A Try programme finished up last night with games, rugby, and lots of laughter, and a very special visit from Ireland player and Olympian, Eve Higgins, who presented our players with their certificates of participation for GIAT with Balbriggan RFC!

A huge well done to all the players who went above and beyond during the last eight weeks and we can’t wait to see them back in the club when the new season kicks off!

A huge thank you to Eve for coming down and giving her time and also to all the coaches who made the last eight weeks so enjoyable and memorable for the players.

We can’t wait for GIAT 2027!

Over the last 12 months we have been working both on and off the pitch to ensure this coming season is one of the best in our history.

Join Balbriggan RFC for a brand-new community initiative introducing rugby to local residents throughout July and August, proudly sponsored by Glenveagh.

✅ Completely FREE to take part!

All you need to do is come along on the first night, bring your friends, and give rugby a try with Balbriggan RFC.

Women’s Coaching Team Announcement

Balbriggan RFC are delighted to announce Ivan McFadden and Billy Phelan as part of our Women’s XV1 Division 1 coaching team.

A former player, Director of Rugby, and Club President, Ivan returns as our Women’s Head Coach eleven years after helping establish the Women’s team.

Ivan has coached across the club pathway from U6s to U18s, leading Balbriggan Youth teams to two Leinster Schools Youth Premier League Championships and a Leinster Youth League Championship. He also brings experience from Leinster North East U17 Girls and AB U18 Girls programmes.

A former player, Billy brings 20+ years coaching experience across senior, schools, representative, and women’s rugby.

With over 14 years working in rugby development through Leinster Rugby and the IRFU, Billy’s experience includes St Mary’s Women’s AIL, Head Coach roles with Balbriggan, Ratoath, Swords, and Leinster North East representative squads.

With strong Balbriggan roots, proven coaching experience and a commitment to player development, Ivan and Billy are ready to drive the next chapter of Women’s rugby at Balbriggan RFC.
