Well done to all crews yesterday who took to the water and competed in our Lambay Challenge. Conditions could not have been better, with boats of different classes racing across the open sea from Rush and circumnavigating Lambay Island before a final charge back to Rush South Beach.

A massive well done to our own two crews, our Junior Ladies and Novice Men (Not so novice anymore) who stormed it, dug deep, and left nothing in the boat.

Heres just a few photographs from just before the race; we will have more photographs in the coming days.

We hope all participants enjoyed the challenge and will soon open early entry for our Lambay Challenge 2027.

Keep an eye on our socials; next year we want to see more boats taking on the challenge!

Tomorrow is D-Day! The Lambay Challenge!

Tomorrow, crews will take to the water at Rush South Beach and take part in the 'Lambay Challenge', a grueling 19km endurance race out into the open sea, around Lambay Island.

Crews from all around Ireland, in all different classes of boat will race to round the island and back to Rush. We are excited to see east coast skiffs, St. Ayles skiffs, FISA boats, Currachs and many more to our 10 year Anniversary event.

The Lambay Challenge is row that holds significant importance to our club, our club originated in Rush and was our first home before moving to our permeant home in Balbriggan.

Our inaugural Lambay Challenge event took place in 2017, with just eight boats taking part. But by 2019 our race had increases in popularity, seeing thirty boats take to the water. Crews travelled from far and wide, including internationally to take part.
Lambay island, and the Lambay challenge is close to all our hearts in Fingal Rowing Club. Its where are story began and every year it continues to be part of our story.

We would like to wish our Junior Ladies and Novice Mens crew the very best of luck as they take to the water and race to glory in the name of Fingal Rowing Club.

Calling all boats, final call! Enter now! Lambay is calling!

Theres still time to register your boat and crew for our upcoming Lambay Challenge, taking place this Saturday 05th September. Setting of from Rush South strand, boats of all types will race around Lambay Island, a arduous 19km row to test any crews endurance.

Its going to be a spectacular event seeing the following types of boats rowing around Lambay including East Coast Skiffs, St. Ayles Skiff, Celtic Long boats, Currachs and FISA Quad.

Her Outdoors Week 2026

On 11th August Fingal Rowing Club proudly hosted an event as part of 'Her Outdoors Week', showcasing East Coast skiff rowing with some of our female club members.

We were incredibly proud to be taking part in Her Outdoors Week, celebrating the brilliant women in sport here on the East Coast!

The Mayor of Fingal Cllr Tony Murphy attended the event to meet the ladies of Fingal rowing club. A photographer organised by Fingal Co Council was on hand to cover the evening's events.
