Last game of the season and the U10 girls absolutely brought the energy from the first whistle this morning. Every player showed determination, teamwork, and real confidence on the pitch, making it a fantastic way to round off the season.

The team started strong, pressing well and supporting each other in every area of the game. Passing was sharp, communication was constant, and the effort from every single player didn’t go unnoticed. It was great to see how much they’ve all developed over the season.

Defensively, the girls were solid, working hard to win the ball back and protect their goal. In attack, they were creative and fearless, taking chances and showing great movement going forward. The goals were well-earned, but just as importantly, the teamwork behind them was brilliant.

A special mention for Parents’ Player of the Match, Summer, for her pure consistency throughout the season. Week in, week out she’s been doing the right things, showing commitment, effort, and a great attitude—fully deserved recognition.

Coaches’ Player of the Match goes to Esme, who was once again outstanding at the back. Solid defensively all the time, she reads the game very well and nothing gets past her. A top performance and a key part of the team.

A special shout out as well to Lucy and Nancy—both were incredible today. Their work rate and finishing were just pure class and made a huge difference going forward.

Most importantly, the team played with smiles on their faces and supported each other throughout, which is exactly what it’s all about. A brilliant performance to finish the season—well done to all the girls!

A very early start for the girls this morning as we hosted our friends from York RI.

We knew from the outset it would be a fantastic game between these two teams, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. There were plenty of chances for both sides, with a great end-to-end battle that saw the teams go into half-time evenly matched.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with both teams struggling to convert their chances. Rovers came close on several occasions, but the RI goalkeeper was, as always, outstanding. Despite a strong effort, RI managed to edge ahead with a well-taken goal on the rebound.

Choosing the Parents’ Player was a tough decision, as all the girls worked incredibly hard. However, Lucy’s relentless work rate earned her the award.

The Coaches’ Player went to Frankie, who showed great determination and pushed herself outside of her comfort zone today.

Well done, Rovers!

This morning our Rovers hosted our friends from Strensall, and we knew we would have to be on our game.

Strensall took control for large parts of the first half and Rovers didn’t see much of their half. Some fantastic saves from Darcie in goal, along with a strong defensive performance, kept us firmly in the game.

The second half was a much better performance from Rovers. We played some excellent football and worked hard to break through their defence. Both teams scored brilliant goals, there was plenty of banter between school friends, and it turned into a real end-to-end game. A great way to start the weekend.

Summer took home Parents’ Player of the Week after a hardworking performance and some strong defensive play.

Es took home Coach’s Player for another excellent performance.

Well done, Rovers! 👏⚽

The girls were absolutely on it this morning, putting in a fantastic team performance from start to finish. Every single player put a real shift in, working hard for each other and showing great determination across the pitch.

The team looked strong defensively, staying organised and supporting one another well whenever they were under pressure. Their confidence was clear to see, with players stepping up, making brave decisions, and keeping the energy high throughout the game.

It was a brilliant display of teamwork, effort, and growing confidence. A great performance from the whole squad – well done girls! Proud of this team

We finally managed to get our last winter league game against Scarborough played on our home turf — and what a game it was!

It was physical from the very first whistle, but Rovers showed real strength and persistence throughout. There were some excellent passages of play, particularly the link-up between Darcie and Nancy, which was fantastic to watch. Defensively we were solid and controlled around 90% of the first half — a really dominant performance.

The second half saw us lose our shape for a short spell, but the girls regrouped brilliantly, brought the game back under control, and finished strong. Massive credit to Scarborough who gave us an excellent contest from start to finish.

Coach’s Player of the Match: Isabella — worked tirelessly, played with confidence, and has shown huge improvement week on week.

Parents’ Player of the Match: Darcie — relentless effort, battled for everything, produced some excellent play, dominated her side, and topped it off with a well-deserved goal.

A fantastic team performance to round off the winter league! 🖤❤️⚽

After a last-minute rush to secure a venue due to pitches being flooded, we headed over to Energise Leisure Centre to finally play Wigginton Greens.

The Rovers started off strong, showing some great passages of play and looking solid defensively. It didn’t take Wigginton long to respond though, as they began to push our defence back and went on to score some excellent goals.

Despite the scoreline, the Rovers kept battling. Heads may have dropped at times, but they persevered to the final whistle.

Parents’ Player of the Match went to Darcie for her excellent runs down the wing and some fantastic attacking play.

Coaches’ Player of the Match went to Lucy for her strong determination and work rate from start to finish.

Fingers crossed we make it through to next week without any further delays as we look ahead to the final game of the season! ⚽

What a morning for our Rovers against York RI! We were quick off the mark and full of determination from the first whistle.

Every girl battled hard, made their passes count, and drove the ball through every blade of grass. RI certainly kept us on our toes, with some outstanding saves from their keeper, and we went into half time all square.

The second half saw both teams come out once again in top form. Darcie and Lucy managed to get round the keeper, scoring two fantastic goals.

Parents’ Player of the Week was Frankie – she had fire in her tummy this morning, worked incredibly hard, and wasn’t afraid to get stuck in.

Coaches’ Player of the Week was Lucy – she paced the pitch brilliantly, was consistent throughout, and bagged herself a well-deserved goal.

A great team performance all round! ❤️🖤⚽

Now that was a Rovers performance! ⚽🖤❤️

This morning we headed down to Mill Lane to go head-to-head with a familiar Wiggy Green side.

After a lot of changes within the team over the last couple of weeks, we can all agree we haven’t quite been ourselves. But this morning? Rovers were absolutely here for it.

From the first whistle, we were strong, determined, and filled the pitch with an undeniable presence. After taking the lead, we knew we had to keep the work rate high against a fantastic Wiggy side.

A change of positions at half time and a small dip in energy gave Wiggy some great opportunities, but Ivy stood firm — nothing was getting past her today. 🧤💪

Rovers soon regained control and found the back of the net a few more times, putting in a performance to be proud of.

🌟 Coaches’ Player of the Match: Paisley — strong in defence, excellent play throughout, and even bagged herself a goal!

🌟 Parents’ Player of the Match: Ivy — bold, brave, and an incredible source of encouragement for her teammates.

🧢 Captain of the Week: Nancy — we say it week after week, but Nancy has truly found herself again. Her positivity and encouragement shone through and continues to reflect in both training and matches. Keep it up, Nancy!

Well done, Rovers — that’s the standard we know your more than capable of ❤️🖤⚽

This morning didn’t start quite as expected. What should have been a home fixture quickly turned into an away trip over to Wiggy, and from the moment we arrived we knew we were in for a real battle. The anticipation was high, the atmosphere was lively, and the girls were ready to give absolutely everything — and they certainly did not disappoint.

From the first whistle, the team showed incredible determination. They linked up brilliantly in spells, pressed with real intent, and weren’t afraid to put themselves on the line for every single ball. There were numerous moments of quality: clever passing moves, confident runs forward, and some great attacking play that very nearly produced the goals they deserved. Sometimes football just doesn’t fall your way, and today was one of those days where despite all the effort and chances created, the ball simply refused to find the back of the net.

Our Parents’ Player of the Week was Nancy, who put in yet another outstanding performance. She fought for everything, drove the ball forward with confidence, and created several dangerous opportunities. Watching her regain her sharpness and play with such belief has been a real highlight over recent weeks. Keep pushing, Nancy — it’s fantastic to see you back at your best.

Our Coaches’ Player went to Lucy, who was nothing short of phenomenal. She was strong in the challenge, rapid across the pitch, and seemed to cover every blade of grass from start to finish. Her work rate, resilience, and relentless energy set the tone for the whole team. A truly top-class performance — well done, Lucy.

A mention to Frankie who was our captain today who showed great kindness, enthusiasm and encouragement to her team mates.

As always, there are things to refine and improve on, and we’ll be back to work at training on Wednesday. The spirit within this group is brilliant, the progress is clear, and days like today only make us stronger. We regroup, we learn, and we go again.

Well done, Rovers — immense effort from every single one of you. 💙⚽

This morning we welcomed Strensall down to Dunnington for what we knew would be a tough battle.

Full credit to the Tigers, who showcased some excellent football throughout. The Rovers were a little slow out of the stalls and struggled to find our rhythm early on. After a few positional changes at half-time, we saw a much-improved version of ourselves in the second half — with more energy, better movement, and some great passages of play.

There’s still plenty to work on in training, but lots of positives to take away too!

🏅 Parents’ Player of the Match: Robyn — worked tirelessly across the pitch, made some excellent challenges, and delivered a strong all-round performance.

🏅 Coaches’ Player of the Match: Ivy — impressed both outfield and in goal, making some fantastic saves in the second half to keep us in it.

A well-earned week off now for the girls as we head to the Etihad to cheer on the Lionesses! 🦁⚽
