Here’s the thing that’s kept us so busy over the past few months. 🫠
Back in March we bought this 1991 Pilote motorhome. We knew it needed some work, but it turned out to be far worse than we ever imagined. Between walls that had literally turned to soil, dodgy electrics throughout the vehicle, and mechanical issues that left us stranded at the side of the road more than once, we definitely had our work cut out for us. Unfortunately, the previous owner wasn’t the most honest, but thankfully I have Adrian, who’s ridiculously handy, and I apparently don’t know how to stop working. 😂
Not long after buying it, we found a much bigger workshop. The catch was that it was too far from where we lived, so we made what was probably a slightly insane decision... we decided to give up the house, move into the workshop and the motorhome, and Adrian left his full-time job to focus on Off-Grid Systems, our campervan and motorhome electrical business.
That gave us just a few months to completely restore the motorhome before it became our home. 😬
Countless late nights, sanding, painting, rebuilding and a lot of swearing later... we somehow made it. These photos are from Scotland with the motorhome about 95% complete.
There’s still plenty left to do—the bathroom, bigger water tanks, and some Off-Grid Prizes and Off-Grid Systems decals—but those jobs can wait until we’re back from Canada.
We’re really proud of how it’s turned out, especially considering where it started. I don’t think either of us will be volunteering to restore another old motorhome anytime soon... but if you need the electrics doing on one, Adrian’s available. 😂⚡🚐
