We are sad to announce that our longest serving member Vic Steel passed away just before Xmas. He was a club stalwart for many years, and his articles on our website are a tribute to him in their own right.
His funeral will be held on Monday January 22nd at 12:30 at Landican South Chapel, nr Birkenhead. Anyone who, like us, remembers him with respect and affection, is welcome to attend.

Here’s a photo of Vic with his great friend, our former chairman Ray Jones (also sadly no longer with us.) A lovely comment today from another old friend: “I shall remember Vic as a popular club member and a prolific and skilled modeller. It was always a joke that he wished his ashes to be scattered over the slopes of Llantisillio mountain from the bomb bay of Ray Jones huge B52 model” - What a great thought!

We had a nice “Twixtmas Gathering” at the Ponderosa Cafe Ltd on Friday - not as big a turn out as last year, many members couldn’t make it due to travel, family commitments or health - but many thanks to everyone who came, and a big shout out to the ones who had a long drive to make it - Shrewsbury, Church Stretton, and even Stockport area!

Some of us managed a little bit of flying afterwards, but sadly rain set in to prevent us making a full day of it - was great to enjoy the fresh air and lovely views even for a short while though.

Here’s to lots of sunny skies and decent winds, so we can have loads of fun and happy landings in 2024… Happy new year from your Treasurer and Chairman in Wrexham!

Martin loved his first day back out flying after an enforced break while his broken collar-bone recovered… some great lift at times, and three good friends to share the fun. The low sun was a bit of a nuisance at times, though it did make it feel a bit warmer! A super day, let’s hope we get one or two more like it before the winter really sets in

Just look how chic CSA member Steve Challoner looks with his jacket colour co-ordinated to his model… the start of a new a trend maybe, lol? (The model is a Toy 2M from Flightech, it flew lovely BTW)

We nearly turned back on the way to the slope this morning, driving through drizzle and low cloud, but in the end had very little trouble with rain and some great flying, so it was a good call after all!

Can't beat those long summer evenings... several members had a great get-together at our small field last week... all hoping to get back there more often while the nice weather lasts.
Here's hoping for some nice westerlies soon though, Martin and I have hardly been up to our slope at all yet this year!

A GREAT DAY OUT
Wow, we had no less than 15 today at our Winter Meeting, lots of us started at the Ponderosa Cafe Ltd for one of their yummy breakfasts, then to the slope.
Winds were very light, but that was good cos it meant we could stand about talking without ending up frozen! A bit of electric assist meant almost everyone enjoyed some good flying, not a day for scale models, but still very good fun, and lovely to see so many friends old and new.
Signed up two more new members today, the club is growing fast!

Two Red Kites flying with Martin’s Wild Thing at our Llantysilio slope last week… Often get one wanting to play follow-the-leader, but two at once unusual, and they really did come quite close at times… They carried on for about five minutes, a third one joined them briefly. It only happens when he’s flying the flying wing, the profile must look more like a bird. What brilliant flyers they are, it was lovely to watch. Thanks to Dave Worron for videoing :)
