A fantastic 68-0 victory over Leigh Miners Rangers sees Workington Town Ladies RLFC take their place in the promotion final on September 20th.

A performance packed with teamwork, determination, strong defence and some great individual tries.

We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming our oldest fan Ken Porter to the Tom Mitchell Lounge on Sunday and Ken, who is 95 and was at Town's first ever game was joined by his family and 4 generations of the Porter family, all Townies.

He walked from Pica to Workington for the clubs first game and has barely missed a game since.

We asked a very proud Ken to present Stevie Scholey and Callum Phillips with their Workington Town heritage certificates. It was a privilege for anyone present to witness and especially for Callum, Stevie and Ken.

Workington Town RLFC is a special place, and it always will be. Once a Townie, always a Townie.

Callum is player 7️⃣1️⃣9️⃣ and Stevie player 7️⃣5️⃣6️⃣ and here they are with Ken.

The very best wishes once again to our retiring players and thank you Ken for such dedication and support. The club is built upon the support of loyal fans like you throughout the ups and downs, wind and rain and the days in the sun when it all comes good!

What a season it's been for Workington Town Netball!

A huge congratulations to the team on an incredible year, finishing with an outstanding record, only defeated in one game.

⭐ Erin Peers – Nominated in the top 3 for Copeland Division 1 Player of the Year

A special mention also goes to Emma, Amanda, Kerry, Ash, Izzy, Nicole and Erin, who proudly represented the club in the Cumbria Premier League playing for West Coast Wildcats and West Coast Warriors.

As our captain Kerry Foster retires from netball having played the courts of Cumbria for around 3 decades, we'd like to thank her for everything she has given to Workington Town Netball.
A true leader, teammate, mentor, and friend, she has been the heart of our club for many years. Her impact on and off the court has been immeasurable, and she'll be greatly missed.

Enjoy your retirement, Kez, you've certainly earned it! 🏐💙

Her long time teammate Emma perfectly summed up Kerry's amazing contribution;

"She has been the best captain, the calm one who kept everyone controlled on the court, slowed the game down when we needed to, but was also the most competitive at times and wasn't shy to tell us to sort ourselves out if we weren't playing our best! 😂

A friend and agony aunt to everyone, and she will be a huge miss. It will take a while to get used to playing without her, as she was the glue that held the team together. Now we have to find our new rhythm without her, which I think will be hard.

Hopefully she will still make an appearance to help out when we're short."
